Steam Software Survey
It looks like Steam survey now also tracks software usage. While it’s just a minority of all Internet users (and all of them are gamers), you can still gather some interesting numbers.
Personally, I was curious about Microsoft Silverlight adoption. Turns out, 1 out of 2 people has actually Silverlight installed. Adobe Flash Player on the other hand dominates the market.

Microsoft Releases Silverlight 3 and it Looks Pretty
Introducing more than 50 new features, Microsoft Silverlight 3 Final has been released. With lots of improvements in many areas, H.264 video support, MP4, ACC, 3D and GPU hardware acceleration support and many more, Adobe should be really worried.

In the recent benchmark between Silverlight 3 and Flash, Ryan Rea said: “Silverlight not only had lower CPU usage, but it also used the four cores more uniformly.”
To answer Opera users question: no, Opera is still listed under “not supported” browsers.
If you would like to experience the awesomeness of this release, head over to the following page for the 720P+ video.
Microsoft to Launch Silverlight 3 on July 10

As per information from press invites, Microsoft is planning to launch Silverlight 3 and Expression Studio 3 on July 10.
Silverlight 3 introduces over 50 new features, such as: H.264 video support, MP4, ACC, 3D and GPU hardware acceleration support, major application development improvements and many more.
Although the following release was not expected to see the day of the light until later this year, apparently Microsoft has already finished what they had planned and is going to release it earlier than expected.
How to Run Silverlight in Opera
As I still see some threads popping out on how to install Silverlight on Opera web browser, though will make it clear:
Despite the fact that it gives you an “unsupported browser” error message when trying to download it, ignore that. Just download and install, it will work (there are issues though).
Joe Stegman however, listed a few of them which you might want to consider before installing it:
1. The MS AJAX issue.
2. Silverlight does not work in Opera when using windowless mode (
). This will show a blank page with the Opera status area saying “Click to activate and use this control”. This is being investigated by the Silverlight team and has also been reported to the Opera development team. The only work-around is to not use windowless mode.
3. The Silverlight TextBox cannot receive focus (and therefore you cannot select/change text in the TextBox). There is no current workaround to this issue.
Download Silverlight: Windows | Mac
Close Opera
Install Silverlight
Open any page which requires Silverlight
