Opera Buys FastMail

Opera Buys FastMailToday, Opera Software has announced the acquisition of Aussie email provider FastMail.FM for an undisclosed amount of money.

According to company press release statement, this move will help Opera to expand its current messaging product portfolio and deliver cross-platform messaging to a wide range of devices, including computers, mobile phones, TVs and gaming consoles.

“The newest generation of Web users will discover the Web through a mobile device. Having world-class messaging capability alongside a rich and compelling Web experience is essential. By combining forces, Opera and FastMail.fm can offer messaging on any device. This will enhance the value Opera provides to consumers, while assisting our operator partners in reducing customer churn,” said Rolf Assev, Chief Strategy Officer at Opera Software.

Opera 10.52 for Windows and Mac Released
Today Opera Software has released an update for Opera 10.5x series web browser for both, Windows and Mac operating systems.

Bug fixes since 10.51
Fixed a crash on closing tab with PDF plugin
Fixed issues with pages never stop loading
Fixed issues with caching
Fixed an issue with opening email attachments
… and more

According to 10.5x roadmap, Linux version should be released by the end of May.

How to Remove Opera O Menu Icon?

Here is a quick and painless way to disable/hide Opera menu icon:

Right click on Opera interface: Customize > Appearance > Toolbars
While Appearance window is still open, click on Opera Menu icon (it should highlight it)
Set toolbar placement to “Off”

March, 2010 – Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari Share Goes Up; IE – DownInternet Explorer slowly nears 60% market share mark. This time it went down from 61.58 to 60.65, 0.93 point decrease.

In March, Firefox managed to increase its market share by 0.29 point, moving up from 24.23% to 24.52%.

Fix Opera and YouTube.com Issue

If you get “Old Flash? Go upgrade!” message in Opera, while trying to watch YouTube.com videos, try this solution:

Go to:
Help > Check for Updates

After you done that, new browser.js file will be loaded to your browser and shall fix this issue.

YouTube is Broken in Opera?

Numerous users are starting to report an issue with YouTube and Opera web browser. For some reason, it’s not possible to view any videos, as the following message appears (even though, you have the latest version of Flash Player installed):

YouTube is Broken in Opera

It looks like this bug affects Opera only, as videos play fine in other web browsers.
