Despite rebooting its mobile platform and focusing on Android and iOS, it looks like Windows Phone users weren’t forgotten.

Guys at WPHub have inquired Opera Software about the possibility of Opera Mini / Mobile for WP and got the following answer:

We are aware that a lot of Windows phone users like you would like to have an Opera browser on their phones. The engineering team at Opera has this on their list.We will announce it as soon as it is ready

After the new releases from Google and Mozilla, it looks like Opera too has decided to reveal its first preview build of Opera 17, which actually includes a fair amount of widely requested (and much needed) improvements.

For example, you will now have an option to manage search engines and assign letters for separate search engines (such as “g” for Google). Ability to pin tabs is now also available as well as startup preferences like last session, speed dial, etc.

First Opera 16 Build Released

First Opera 16 Build ReleasedNo mail reader in sight.

It looks like guys at Opera are busy working on features that did not make it to the final build of Opera 15. Today, they have added a support for Windows jumplists and auto form filler with more to come in the very near future.

According to Sebastian Baberowski, Opera is currently working on bookmarks, Opera Link, tab improvements (such as ability to pin them) as well as themes that should ease the transition pain when migrating from v12 to v16. Thankfully, they promised to release a new build featuring some of these enhancements in “a few weeks”, so stay tuned.

Opera To Reintroduce BookmarksBetter late than never.

Now here is a piece of good news for you, thanks to a very vocal and passionate community that just won’t shut up, Opera has decided to bring back bookmark functionality in the future builds.

Unfortunately, there is no ETA although guys at Opera hinted that it is a priority. Interestingly enough, they also said that “it won’t be a clone of Opera 12” (whatever that means) but as long as it’s a proper bookmarking implementation, we should be fine.

If you were wondering whether or not Opera too will switch to the fast release cycle then here is a first hint. Approximately 6 weeks after releasing the final version of Opera 14, guys in Norway has just pushed the version 15 and we are not talking about the beta builds here.

Minus improved startup time and ability to download videos, you can now set download location for the files as well as open data from the external SD Card if available.
