Google Chrome & Opera Celebrates Their Birthdays
No cake for you.
If you need an excuse to start drinking on Monday mornings, then we are about to give you two.
As it turns out, Opera Software, which was founded on August 30, 1995, has recently celebrated its 18th birthday, making it one of the oldest browser makers in the world (fun fact: Internet Explorer 1 debuted on August 16, 1995).
Not only that but Google Chrome too was revealed at a similar timeframe (September 2, 2008), which today marks the five years of web browser innovation.

Opera: Real Bookmarks Is Not Our Priority
Suggests installing as many extensions as possible.
If you’re one of the people who’ve delayed their upgrade plans from Opera 12 because of the missing bookmark functionality, then you are up for a disappointment.
According to the latest blog post (and comments by Odin Hørthe Omdal), you shouldn’t expect native bookmark functionality in the near feature as Opera’s first priority is the quick access bar. Instead, they suggest relying on the third party extensions, which doesn’t sound like a good idea.

Opera 16 Final Now Available
Grab it now.
If developer builds is not exactly your cup of tea then you’d be happy to know that Opera has recently released the final version of Opera 16, which (among various bug fixes and performance improvements) includes a couple of nice features to play with.
First in the list is a support for Geolocation API, allowing web sites to track your location if required. In addition to that, opera:flags option is now back, so are jump lists and most importantly, the form auto-filler (yay!).

Opera Still Has Plans For The Windows Phone
No ETA yet.
Despite rebooting its mobile platform and focusing on Android and iOS, it looks like Windows Phone users weren’t forgotten.
Guys at WPHub have inquired Opera Software about the possibility of Opera Mini / Mobile for WP and got the following answer:
We are aware that a lot of Windows phone users like you would like to have an Opera browser on their phones. The engineering team at Opera has this on their list.We will announce it as soon as it is ready

First it was Chrome, then Firefox. Now, it looks like Opera too has decided to update their logo and boy does it look familiar.
Considering that Opera 15 is a fresh start for the company, we’d prefer something fresh yet recognizable. Maybe something like these:

Download Opera 17 Developer Preview
No bookmarks yet.
After the new releases from Google and Mozilla, it looks like Opera too has decided to reveal its first preview build of Opera 17, which actually includes a fair amount of widely requested (and much needed) improvements.
For example, you will now have an option to manage search engines and assign letters for separate search engines (such as “g” for Google). Ability to pin tabs is now also available as well as startup preferences like last session, speed dial, etc.

July, 2013 Desktop Market Share: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome – Up; Firefox, Safari, Opera – Down
It’s hot as hell out there but the posts must flow (there’s a Dune reference somewhere), especially when it comes to tech news.
Kicking things of with Internet Explorer, Microsoft’s big blue browser just keeps edging higher, up from 56.15% to 56.61% (0.46 point increase).
