Apple Calls Opera Software, Talks about Opera MiniAccording to Norwegian news page digi.no, due to growing interest in Opera Mini for the iPhone, Apple has called Opera Software to discuss about the possible partnership between these two companies.

Although no more details were revealed, Håkon Wium Lie (Opera’s Chief Technology Officer) feels confident, that Opera Mini will be approved.

When asked about the possible pricing, he said: We have not decided yet. Typically, the way that you download and use Opera for free (*translated*).

Opera Mini for iPhoneOpera Software announced its plans to unveil Opera Mini for iPhone during 2010 Mobile World Congress conference, which will be held from 15th to 18th of February.

Although Apple App terms clearly states, that such applications won’t be approved, Opera Software co-founder Jon von Tetzchner said: “we hope that Apple will not deny their users a choice in Web browsing experience.”

As for today, Opera Mini for iPhone is not publicly available.

Run Flash on iPhone, iPod Safari BrowserNow here is something handy. A JavaScript runtime called Gordon (written by Tobias Schneider) allows you to run .swf files on your iPhone or iPod.

While you won’t be able to view just about any page using Flash (sites need to add this runtime first), there are still some great things left to do; for instance: playing .swf games.

If you are curious enough, here are some of the flash demos already made.

Mozilla to Release App for the iPhoneDuring Om’s interview with John Lilly, it was revealed to him that Mozilla is working on iPhone App, which will “surprise people”.

John Lilly said:
“Mozilla will release an app to the iPhone App Store in the next few weeks,”

What would it be?
No one knows. However, as they were talking about Weave and the Awesome Bar, Om Malik has asked on whether it is going to be a part of the upcoming iPhone app. Surprisingly or not, John Lilly just smiled and refused to provide any more details. Hint?

Opera Retakes Leadership from iPhone in Mobile Browser MarketStatCounter writes:

Opera is the world’s number one mobile browser, overtaking iPhone in May according to data from StatCounter Global Stats. In May Opera took 24.6% of the worldwide market compared to 22.3% for iPhone. Nokia retains third place with 17.9%. However, if one includes iPod Touch then Apple browsers still lead with iPod Touch alone taking 14.9% of the market in May.
