“Occupy Flash” Movement Desires Death Of Flash
A small group of website and mobile app developers recently started off an “Occupy Flash” campaign in the hope of putting an end to Adobe’s popular browser plug-in.
The group, which launched a website earlier this week, said its goal was to “Get the world to uninstall the Flash Player plug-in from their desktop browsers.”
Flash Player is dead. Its time has passed. It’s buggy. It crashes a lot. It requires constant security updates. It’s a fossil, left over from the era of closed standards and unilateral corporate control of Web technology. - The Occupy Flash site
Chrome Hack Denied By Google Engineers
As reported previously by FavBrowser, Google Chrome’s sandbox has allegedly been hacked. Nevertheless, several security engineers over at Google have now denied this, countering claims that a security company discovered a vulnerability in Chrome that could let attackers hijack Windows PCs running the browser.
The bug that security company Vupen exploited to hack Chrome was in Adobe’s Flash which comes bundled with Chrome, not in Chrome itself, said the engineers. A Google spokesman said that investigation was still ongoing, but the engineers decided to make themselves heard.

Convert Flash to HTML5
Adobe has released an experimental technology codenamed Wallaby which is designed to convert Flash (FLA) to HTML files.
Although not all features are yet supported, it’s a welcomed step forward.
Wallaby is free to use, so if you want to give it a try, here is a download link.

Adobe has just released the Final build of Adobe Flash Player 10.2 that offers a couple of new features and enhancements:
Stage Video hardware acceleration
By enabling access to hardware acceleration, the following API enables better and high-performance video playback across different platforms.
Support for full screen mode with multiple monitors
Users can now play a full-screen video on one display while surfing with another.

Apple Approves Skyfire, Brings Flash Support
Well, what do you know; Apple has just approved the Skyfire mobile browser for the iOS.
According to CNNMoney.com, it shall be available on Thursday and is priced at $2.99.
Is it any good? Well, the main selling point is this: Skyfire has a built in Flash video to HTML5 converter. Therefore, iPhone, iPod or iPad users will be able to enjoy Flash content. However, don’t get to excited as it won’t convert games or other non-video related content.
64-Bit Flash Player for Windows, Mac and Linux
Good news, everyone, Adobe has just released a preview build of 64-bit Flash Player for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms.
Known issues:
- Video playback issues may appear on certain websites such as Hulu.com, Audi.co.uk, and nbc.com.
- Mouse interactivity in the Settings UI dialog does not work using Internet Explorer 9. Keyboard navigation works as expected. Please pardon our dust.
- Internet Explorer 9 is not yet final. As such, Adobe is continuing to work with Microsoft to resolve critical issues before the final release of Internet Explorer 9.
- This release will not receive automatic update notifications, and users will need to manually uninstall this preview before installing a standard shipping release of Flash Player
We are one step closer to 64-bit mainstream web browsers!
64-bit Flash is No More
It looks like with the recent Flash 10.1 Final release, Adobe has also removed 64-bit Flash Player (for Linux) from their web page.
While company failed to provide any real reason for such change and simply said:
The Flash Player 10.1 64-bit Linux beta is closed. We remain committed to delivering 64-bit support in a future release of Flash Player.
Recent page update has clarified that they are still working on 64-bit Flash Player for all major platforms and will deliver it in an upcoming major Flash Player release.
We have temporarily closed the Labs program of Flash Player 10 for 64-bit Linux, as we are making significant architectural changes to the 64-bit Linux Flash Player and additional security enhancements.

Adobe Flash 10.1 Now Available
It appears that Adobe has finished working on a stable Flash 10.1 release and made it available for you to download.
Flash 10.1 includes quite a few great features, such as: multi touch, H.264 video hardware decoding (Linux and Windows only), graphics hardware acceleration (mobile only) and new platforms support.
