Last evening, Google has aired a new commercial on TV which promotes Dan Savage’s “It Gets Better” project and Chrome web browser, obviously. Pretty neat, if you ask us.

Creator Of jQuery Leaves Mozilla
After more than 4 years, John Resig, a JavaScript Evangelist is leaving Mozilla Corporation and will be joining Khan Academy, a nonprofit educational organization.
Thanks to Mozilla, John was able to work on jQuery full-time which resulted in a great deal of new releases.

Google Chrome 14, 15 And 16 Planned This Year
How many new major builds of Google Chrome browser can be pushed in one year? A lot.
If the Chromium development calendar is to be believed, then we should see the following versions later this year:
Google Chrome 13 – (Chromium on May 30, 2011)
Google Chrome 14 – (Chromium on July 25, 2011)
Google Chrome 15 – (Chromium on September 5, 2011)
Google Chrome 16 – (Chromium on October 17, 2011)
So here you have it, a plenty of releases this year with Google Chrome 13 just around the corner.

Browsing some forums recently, I discovered that people miss the Firefox 3 feature that allowed you to save a session for next time upon quitting Firefox. Knowing that Mozilla couldn’t have possibly removed it, I had to investigate the matter and found an answer. Save and Quit is still here, but hidden!

Download Opera 11.50 Alpha
The very first Alpha build of the next generation Opera browser codenamed Swordfish has been just released.
One of the new features in the following version is an interactive Speed Dial. Users can now enhance its functionality by adding extensions, such as: weather, live news feeds, email notifications and more.
In addition to that, Opera 11.50 includes password synchronization and with the help of Opera Next, you can now play with dev builds without affecting your main browser installation.

Internet Explorer 9 Overtakes Opera
According to the Net Applications report, Internet Explorer 9 market share is now greater then Opera’s two branches combined, 11.x and 10.x.
It took IE9 a month to double its usage share on Windows 7 machines as it went up from 3.5% to 7.46%.
As for Opera browser, it now claims 2.18% of the market share for 11.x and 0.34% for 10.x branches.

Google Chrome Blocks Java
Java and security vulnerabilities go together like bread and butter and fortunately for some users, it is now blocked in Google Chrome.
In case web page tries to access Java plug-in, the following message will be displayed:
“The Java plug-in needs your permission to run.”
After such popup, user can select whether he or she wants to run plug-in this time only or whitelist site all together.
For those who would like to disable protection, all you have to do is add –always-authorize-plugins command line flag.

Download Firefox 4.0.1
Here comes the first stability and security update for Firefox 4 web browser as well as update for both, Firefox 3.6 and 3.5 branches.
Firefox 4.0.1 includes 3 security patches (2 of them are marked as critical) and just over 50 bug fixes, 55 to be exact.
As for Firefox 3.6.17 and 3.5.19 releases, both versions patch 6 security vulnerabilities (3 critical) and 17, 19 bug fixes respectively.
