Firefox Integrates Opus, Now Approved By The IETF
Opus, a low-delay audio codec optimized for both voice and general-purpose audio, has been approved by the IETF. Originally developed by Xiph, Opus is a merger of Skype’s SILK’s and Xiph’s CELT codecs.
Xiph, which was originally made Opus/CELT for the low-latency audio, has become competitive in the general purpose audio codecs area.

Opera Mini Strikes US Carrier Deals
Jon von Tetzchner (Opera Software CEO) has confirmed that Opera Mini would soon be widespread in the US through a deal with Motricity, a mobile content delivery platform in partnership with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile.
According to the StatCounter, last month Opera Mini had 2.4% US mobile market share. These numbers are much higher outside the US. Jon von Tetzchner added: “I do believe things are about to change in the U.S.”.
Opera Software Signs Deal with Virgin Mobile USA
Opera Software has announced that they’ve signed an agreement with Virgin Mobile USA to bundle Opera Mini 4.2 with Virgin Mobile phones.
