Foxkeh From Japan

By | August 14, 2007 | 2 Comments

Meet Foxkeh. It’s a new toy which was born in Japan and was created to support Firefox promotional campaign.

Foxkeh

Is it cute? Maybe. I find it kinda funny and friendly looking toy. Foxheh.com blog also says: “Could this go into mass production if there’s enough public demand?!” So it’s up to you I guess.

Also, take a look at this promotional banner. For me it looks much better than the standard ones.

Firefox 3 Got New Download Manager

By | August 13, 2007 | 2 Comments

Good afternoon everyone, first of all, sorry for not posting more than a day, my internet connection was down. But finally it’s fixed now. So let’s do the news.

One of the most interesting and great features in Firefox 3 was announced plug-ins “manager” (which rocks).

This time they are upgrading download manager. What’s new there? It became more user friendly. Now Firefox 3 download manager “separates” them by downloading stage, for example: active downloads are being shown in one line, while completed in another one (same with paused and canceled). When download is completed you can check it’s info by clicking small “Information” icon which shows download url and location in which it was saved, thought it would be great if I could see download url and location where it’s being download all the time (like Opera’s download manager).

New Firefox 3 download manager also includes a search bar and might get more upgrades soon.

More Great Stuff In Firefox 3

By | August 11, 2007 | 4 Comments

Firefox team keeps adding great features and last nightly build is not an exception.

What you can do now is see installed plug-ins in very friendly way, also enable or disable them, for example: Flash and/or DivX players.

Here how it looks:

Using Firefox 2 you can type about:plugins (in the address bar) and get similar information but in not so friendly way. Actually, you will see more than a few lines of text. Seems Firefox teem playing trying to make Firefox 3 as friendly as possible.

Just Another Opera 9.5 Topic :-)

By | August 10, 2007 | 17 Comments

It’s Friday and seems there won’t be any Opera 9.5 build today. But that’s not the main point. Today I’ve asked then they will provide any more information about Opera 9.5. I am just curious, that’s not a crime (I hope so). After few minutes my question was deleted (even all other times it wasn’t), so maybe Opera Destop Team are just too tired to answer questions about Opera 9.5. Anyway, just a friendly advice: you could save more time by writing 1 line with text “No Opera 9.5 this week” instead of deleting people questions (me included) :-)

Opera 9.5. Is Tomorrow That Day?

By | August 9, 2007 | 6 Comments

Everyone is waiting for the very first Opera 9.5 public release. Tomorrow we should have another weekly or just some more news, so maybe Opera team will release it tomorrow? Since we are waiting for so long I think that it won’t be released tomorrow. Why not? My guess is that to get more time on Opera 9.5 polishing they will release Opera 9.23 Final as Opera 9.23 weekly (not a final version) was released last week already.

Oh well… I can be wrong, let’s wait and see.

Firefox 3 Alpha 8 Pre

By | August 9, 2007 | 1 Comment

Yesterday Firefox team released yet another nightly version of Firefox 3 web browser.

Besides various bugs fixes, you can find some great improvements as well. Now you can resize your Firefox search and location bars which allow users to customize their Firefox 3 Alpha 8 Pre bars in any way they want. However, that’s not the only one great improvement. Firefox team made one more makeover. It’s a Vista menus look.

Thanks to Omega X for the screenshot.

If those improvements gives users what they want, then I would like to praise Firefox team for adding this in their latest Firefox 3 Alpha 8 Pre, August 8 release.

No More Than 10 Days To Release Critical Patch

By | August 8, 2007 | 2 Comments

“Ten Fuc*ing Days”. That’s what Mozilla said.

That’s right, they’ve said that they can release any critical patch within 10 days or faster. Firefox 2.0.0.6 was released even faster than 10 days (after security flaws were discovered). So they are not just using some tricks (or do they?), it’s already proven, we will see how fast they will release next one.

In my point of view, before using such statements they should also fix other security vulnerabilities. Even if they are not the most critical ones.
