    Thats pretty cool.

I might give up fanboys and try others.

    The Filter Downloader seems useful

comparing opera tools (lets set autoupdate with wget and cron here, edit bunch of files here, and remember opera must be turned off, and all your personal edits will be overwritten on next update, oh, and remember to fix it alltogether when you update your opera and their devs decide to cange AGAIN locations of ini files) with Firefox, chrome, safari ones (click, install, pick preffered list, save, forget) is a complete and utter fun

when will someone at opera notice that world moved on and we are now approaching 2011?

when will you notice that nobody care about your comments? stop spamming this site.. Opera wont listen to you and i hate to scroll down through your rant. Go troll somewhere else, please

this is exactly what i was reffering to:

it requires soooo much work to set up and then maintain, requires to drop your own edits alltogether (because they are going to be overwritten anyway on each update) etc that you wonder how is that people consider it ‘working’

Yes I do agree with you (to a degree). I would really like to see opera move away from this approach of manually downloading this and that to get some function ability. Don’t get me wrong. Opera has some very nice inbuilt functions that I’ll rather have than as some extension but the extensibility side of the browser is lacking. I do not know if you would attribute this to their arrogance or the simple “I hate that business model” attitude but a change once in a while would be nice. I really really like how chrome are handling things. Want greasemonkey? It’s inbuilt. Hold on Opera has it inbuilt as well –  yeah but you don’t have to perform 10 steps just to make it work (don’t take it literally please). Want to install an extension? Click install no restart required. <Perfect IMO.

Having said that. I would like Opera to retain the manual side of things.
To all the Opera Fanboys out their. Would you not want to see Opera include such features? (hmmm. let me see who starts their reply by “I do not need extension as I have – 1. blah 2. blahblah 3.blahblahblah inbult”) Don’t you reckon this extendability is holding Opera back? Would it not appeal to new users?
They can even toot it as:
“Opera – The Firefox alternative web browser that does not require a restart to use your favourite extension”

Also I was wondering with the abundance of these comments, exactly what a “cron” job was.

Is this a linux thing people are referring too? I never came across this term in a Windows environment.

      • nobody says:

cron is something like windows ‘scheduler’ service for unix. a timer that runs tasks on set intervals or on set time. there are other programs like it, but this is mostly built in and most popular
