Microsoft Considers(ed) Rebranding Internet Explorer
Ultron is the name.
In case you’ve missed Microsoft’s IE team AMA (ask me anything) on reddit (with over 8000 comments), then here is at least one interesting fact from the page.
According to comments, the software giant is considered renaming Internet Explorer to Ultron but the lawyers said no. Then they added:
“It’s been suggested internally; I remember a particularly long email thread where numerous people were passionately debating it. Plenty of ideas get kicked around about how we can separate ourselves from negative perceptions that no longer reflect our product today.”

Internet Explorer 8 To Be Supported Till 2016
For better or worse.
Despite the fact that IE8 is 5 years old, it is still used by more than 20% of all desktop users worldwide (as it still remains the most popular web browser in the world).
However, thanks to the recent changes to supported Windows configurations, the software giant will finally stop supporting Internet Explorer 8 with the change set to take place in early 2016, a long way to go indeed.

Microsoft Patches 59 Internet Explorer Vulnerabilities In June
IE6 to IE11.
If you are wondering how secure Internet Exporer is then look no further than at the latest report by Microsoft, which states that the software giant has already patched a total of 59 vulnerabilities in the month of June.
While only 2 out of 59 were publicly disclosed it makes us wonder: is that high number of fixed security vunerabilities a good or a bad thing?

Internet Explorer 12 To Include Substantial UI Changes
Now here‘s a hope for the human kind.
If you are still frustrated by the decade old Internet Exploder‘s UI then good news, this could very well be fixed in IE12.
Why? A feedback (Colour of Favourites Bar / Menu Bar) submited in the „Internet Explorer Feedback“ page got attention from the IE Team, which resulted in the following repsonse:
„Thanks for the feedback. We’re making substantial changes to the UI, we’ll keep this in mind.“

UK And US Governments Advises Not To Use Internet Explorer
Why would you use XP anyway?
Due to a recently discovered Internet Explorer (6-11) vulnerability, which will likely be patched soon for all but Windows XP users, UK and US governments are advising users to switch to alternative web browsers.
Security firm FireEye have warned users that a group of hackers are already exploiting the vulnerability targeting Internet Explorer 9-11 and Adobe Flash, so in any case, you are better of using something else.

Crazy Rumors: Internet Explorer Might Come To Android
Can it be true?
With the recent reveal of Office or iPad and Android, it looks like there is a new (and absolutely crazy) rumor in town (which comes from unverified source via Twitter): Microsoft is porting Internet Explorer for Android.
While at first glance it does not seem realistic, one might wonder if the software giant has decided to spread even more of their services across different platforms rather than making them MS exclusive, which was the case with Xbox Live Games (some of them are now on iOS and Android), Office, etc.

Pwn2Own 2014: All Browsers Defeated
It looks like this year’s Pwn2Own hacking contest was pretty eventful and all web browsers got their asses kicked.
On the first day, a team from France has successfully hacked Internet Explorer 11, Firefox and Adobe Flash Player. The very same research firm also managed to find a vulnerability in Google Chrome, which affects both WebKit and Blink rendering engines.
Next day Sebastian Apelt and Andreas Schmidt have demonstrated a browser based exploit against Microsoft’s web browser, followed by a Chinese team that managed to bypass Safari’s sandbox and run remote code execution through it.
