Microsoft Proposes CSS Scrolling Snap Points Standard
Two lines of code make all the difference in the world.
It looks like Microsoft is trying to solve one of the more painful experiences for developers: creating paginated content and scrolling photo galleries that work on all the devices and different input mechanisms (touch, mouse wheel or a keyboard).
Instead of writing hundreds of lines of JavaScript code, Microsoft’s implementation only requires two. According to the software giant, “this code works with touch swipe in IE10 and IE11; new in IE11, this same markup automatically works with mouse wheels, arrow keys, and trackpads—allowing users to access these experience no matter the device they happen to be browsing with at the moment. Enabling a similar experience by writing JavaScript can take hundreds of lines of code, often doesn’t offer stick-to-your-finger manipulation, and typically stutters in performance on low-end hardware.”

Internet Explorer 11 Forces Google.com Into Compatibility Mode
Worst possible timing ever.
When you release a new build of web browser, you’d expect that at least the most popular sites are to load properly. Turns out, this is not exactly the case with Internet Explorer 11.
According to several reports, opening Google on IE11 might force it into a compatibility mode that messes up the rendering of search results. Interestingly enough, you can fix this by simply pressing Alt+X and unchecking ‘Use Microsoft compatibility lists’.
Microsoft Pays $28,000 To IE11 Security Flaw Hunters
It looks like Microsoft is following Google’s steps and will be rewarding those that dedicate their days and nights seeking various security flaws.
According to Katie Moussouris, Senior Security Strategist at Microsoft, the software giant is paying $28,000 in bounties for the vulnerabilities that were discovered in IE11.
If you are wondering what effect money has on people, Microsoft said that during first 30 days of the IE10 beta they did not receive any bulletin class reports, compared to “several” security vulnerabilities reported in Internet Explorer 11.

Internet Explorer 6 Market Share Now Below 5%
Now here’s a reason for you to start celebrating weekend earlier, at least if you are a web developer and still care about IE6.
According to the latest data from NetApplications, Internet Explorer’s 6 market share is now sitting at the 4.76% mark. And as you will see from our upcoming report, IE’s market share is now the highest it has ever been this year: 57.79%.
Google Analytics To Drop Internet Explorer 8 Support
Now here’s a non-news story for you.
If you are using Google Analytics and IE8, then you’re going to have a bad time as the search giant has recently announced its plans to drop the support for Microsoft’s web browser by the end of 2013.
As it says in the blog post, Google has “decided to do this to both accelerate the pace at which we can innovate new product features, and to facilitate adoption of newer web technologies in the design of the Google Analytics product.”

Internet Explorer 11 To Load JPG Images Up To 45% Faster
If you’re getting tired of seeing same old JavaScript performance improvements that are now as relevant as Britney Spears, then Microsoft’s latest post about rendering enhancements in the Internet Explorer 11 might cheer you up.
According to IEBlog, Windows 8.1 Apps as well as IE11 will use GPU power to process data, resulting in up to 45% faster image load and 40% lower memory consumption. And yes, when it comes to rendering, we are talking milliseconds here.

Adblock Plus For Internet Explorer Now Available
Good news for consumers and bad for advertisers, Adblock Plus for Internet Explorer has been recently released to the web, which is even compatible with Internet Explorer 6 (and above).
While Wladimir Palant, the lead developer of Adblock Plus said that there is still much room for improvement, the current version has reached a point where it provides a solid enough experience to justify the release.
However, it should be noted that due to various limitations imposed by Microsoft, the Metro version of Internet Explorer does not support AdBlock Plus.
