H.264 Is Now Free, Sort Of
MPEG-LA, the group behind H.264 codec licensing declared Internet Broadcast AVC free from royalties; as long as web site that provides video streaming service is free as well. Or put in other words: YouTube won’t have to pay for it
Originally, LLC was planning to charge companies that rely on H.264, starting from 2016.
Thanks to competition, such as: Google’s WebM video format, this is no longer the case, as long as end users are not paying for service.

Internet Explorer 9 vs. Google Chrome 6 (HTML5 Performance)
In rather pointless benchmark, DownloadSquad has tested latest Internet Explorer 9 build against Google Chrome 6 dev.
What are the results?
As seen in video above, IE9 annihilated Chrome. However, while it does sound great, author failed to mention that Google Chrome 6 does not really support hardware acceleration (still in early development stage). Therefore, it shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Google Launches HTML5 Rocks Web Site

In response to Apple’s HTML5 demos, Google has launched a website of its own that is far more useful.
Yes, it does include various presentations that were originally designed to run on Google Chrome. However, HTML5 Rocks also provide you with a tools and tutorials to code something for yourself.
So, who’s next? Mozilla, Opera or Microsoft?

Opera 10.60 Beta Hits the Streets

Just few days after the recent Opera build, with improved HTML5 features support, Opera Software has released the very first beta of Opera 10.60 web browser.
Version 10.60 introduces speed improvements and few new features, such as:
Smarter Searching
More efficient search with new search suggestions feature (did not work).
HTML5 Features Support
Opera now supports WebM in HTML5 video: a high quality, free and open video format.
You can add location awareness to your web applications to expand the possibilities of what you can offer.

Latest Opera Snapshot Receives More HTML5 Features Support
Today’s Opera browser snapshot (non-stable) has introduced a support of four HTML5 related features, as well as Cross-Document Messaging update.
Those features are:
WebM support for HTML5 video (demo)
HTML5 Offline Web Applications (demo)
Geolocation (not fully implemented in FreeBSD/Linux builds yet) (demo)
Web Workers (demo)
