Microsoft has recently released the second Platform Preview of the Internet Explorer 10, which now uses the same rendering engine as in the recent public demonstration of Windows 8.

Mozilla and Opera Mock Microsoft’s Native HTML5 Claims
It looks like not everyone is digging the native HTML5 marketing claims from the software giant.
With the launch of Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 1, Microsoft had to say the following:
Web sites and HTML5 run best when they run natively, on a browser optimized for the operating system on your device. We built IE9 from the ground up for HTML5 and for Windows to deliver the most native HTML5 experience and the best Web experience on Windows. The only native experience of the Web of HTML5 today is on Windows 7 with IE9.
Mozilla’s former director of Firefox, Mike Beltzner, was quick to respond, ridiculing the term on Bugzilla, the company’s bug tracking database.

Convert Flash to HTML5
Adobe has released an experimental technology codenamed Wallaby which is designed to convert Flash (FLA) to HTML files.
Although not all features are yet supported, it’s a welcomed step forward.
Wallaby is free to use, so if you want to give it a try, here is a download link.
HTML5: Framerate Fest

After introducing the hardware acceleration feature for IE9, Microsoft wasn’t really shy to demonstrate its advantages over other web browsers.
Recently, company has launched a Framerate Fest web site, inviting web developers to create their own HTML5 demo (300×300).
There have been only few entries so far (see official site) and submissions are open until the 25th of March.
One lucky winner will receive a brand new Xbox 360 with Kinect and some merchandise.

Google Chrome 10, Now With HTML5 Games

First person shooters are next.
If you are using the Dev Channel builds of Google Chrome 10, prepare for a nice surprise. According to Google OS blog post, it now comes with two HTML5 games pre-installed: Poppit and Entanglement.
As of today, it will install games without your permission. However, manual removal is possible.
HTML5 + WebGL: Body Browser

Now here is another neat HTML5 demo.
By combining HTML5 and WebGL, Google has created a “Body Browser”. Unlike other similar applications, it does not require Flash or JavaScript. All you have to do is download a web browser that supports WebGL:

Ah, the joys of HTML5.
Franz Enzenhofer has created a Tron trailer demo to demonstrate the possibilities of HTML5 canvas tag.
So what can you do with it? Add effects, change size, scale, rotation and skew.
