Google To Ditch Cookies For AdID
Better privacy control as long as you trust Google.
If you haven’t heard about the AdID before, it’s because there is no such thing yet. However, according to USAToday, Google is working on an anonymous identifier (AdID), which would eventually replace everyone’s beloved cookies.
As stated in the article, AdID would allow ad companies to target various web browser users but there are certain guidelines that would give consumers more control over their privacy, which does sound good on a paper.

Google Analytics To Drop Internet Explorer 8 Support
Now here’s a non-news story for you.
If you are using Google Analytics and IE8, then you’re going to have a bad time as the search giant has recently announced its plans to drop the support for Microsoft’s web browser by the end of 2013.
As it says in the blog post, Google has “decided to do this to both accelerate the pace at which we can innovate new product features, and to facilitate adoption of newer web technologies in the design of the Google Analytics product.”

Google To Halt The Netscape Plug-in API Support
Plugin-less web browsers is the future.
Introduced in late 90s with Netscape Navigator 2.0, Netscape Plug-in API (NPAPI) has transformed web browsers in ways that were hard to imagine. More than 20 years later, it looks like NPAPI now does more harm than good, which is why Google has recently announced it plans to get rid of the old dog.
According to Google Chrome security engineer, Justin Schuh, “NPAPI’s 90s-era architecture has become a leading cause of hangs, crashes, security incidents, and code complexity.” and it’s hard to argue with him.

When you searching for something, click on one of the links and hit back, the results page will now appear instantly. In addition to that, you can now ask follow up questions using voice search, for example: if you ask Google “Who is the president of the United States?” you can say “Who is his wife?” next and it will know what you meant.

Google Reveals A Next Generation Of Chrome Apps
Calls it “a new breed”.
It looks like Google has been cooking something special for its 5th birthday and no, it’s not a cake. Turns out, the search giant has been working on a next generation of Chrome apps that are set to rival those of Windows and Mac.
Not only will they work offline but those apps behave like any native app on other operating systems, meaning that they can access pretty much any part of your computer hardware, including storage, ports and Bluetooth connection.

Google Chrome & Opera Celebrates Their Birthdays
No cake for you.
If you need an excuse to start drinking on Monday mornings, then we are about to give you two.
As it turns out, Opera Software, which was founded on August 30, 1995, has recently celebrated its 18th birthday, making it one of the oldest browser makers in the world (fun fact: Internet Explorer 1 debuted on August 16, 1995).
Not only that but Google Chrome too was revealed at a similar timeframe (September 2, 2008), which today marks the five years of web browser innovation.

Download Google Chrome 30 Beta For PC & Android
Here comes another batch of releases from Google for both Android and the PC.
Starting with Chrome 30, users will be able to search by image faster, simply right click on it (or long press if using Android) and the option will appear. While you can always just go to images.google.com, not many people are aware of this feature, which is pretty awesome when you need the biggest version of the image or simply trying to identify the original source and/or the “actress” (yes, it works with GIFs too).
