Firefox 8 (64 Bit) Picks Up The Pace
Good news for all the 64 bit software fans.
According to Armen Zambrano, the Release Engineer at Mozilla Corporation, with the introduction of a small set of Windows 2008 64-bit machines, Mozilla started cooking Firefox x86-64 nightly builds and has been doing so for more than a week now.
Furthermore, Asa Dotzler, Product Manager for the Firefox desktop browser, is now collecting feedback and expectations about the future 64 bit builds. In case you are interested in expressing your opinion as well, feel free to visit the following post.
The future looks pretty exciting and we can’t wait to see which of the web browser vendors is next.

64-Bit Flash Player for Windows, Mac and Linux
Good news, everyone, Adobe has just released a preview build of 64-bit Flash Player for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms.
Known issues:
- Video playback issues may appear on certain websites such as Hulu.com, Audi.co.uk, and nbc.com.
- Mouse interactivity in the Settings UI dialog does not work using Internet Explorer 9. Keyboard navigation works as expected. Please pardon our dust.
- Internet Explorer 9 is not yet final. As such, Adobe is continuing to work with Microsoft to resolve critical issues before the final release of Internet Explorer 9.
- This release will not receive automatic update notifications, and users will need to manually uninstall this preview before installing a standard shipping release of Flash Player
We are one step closer to 64-bit mainstream web browsers!
No Firefox 4 64 Bit for You
Even though 64 bit operating systems are becoming a standard in today’s computing world, Mozilla’s Director of Firefox (Mike Beltzner) revealed that company has no plans to release 64 bit Firefox 4 final build in the near future.
Early in the summer we decided to not yet provide supported 64-bit builds on Windows, and will instead work on delivering those in some future release.
If only we had a 64-bit Flash Player build for all the platforms…
64-bit Flash is No More
It looks like with the recent Flash 10.1 Final release, Adobe has also removed 64-bit Flash Player (for Linux) from their web page.
While company failed to provide any real reason for such change and simply said:
The Flash Player 10.1 64-bit Linux beta is closed. We remain committed to delivering 64-bit support in a future release of Flash Player.
Recent page update has clarified that they are still working on 64-bit Flash Player for all major platforms and will deliver it in an upcoming major Flash Player release.
We have temporarily closed the Labs program of Flash Player 10 for 64-bit Linux, as we are making significant architectural changes to the 64-bit Linux Flash Player and additional security enhancements.

Google Chrome 64 bit (x64)
Good news for Linux users. After quite a few changes, 64 bit version of Google Chrome (Chromium) 4 has been released for Ubuntu operating system.
