Opera 9.5, Is This A Bug (Part 2)?
October 5, 2007
Not so long time ago I’ve posted an article called “Opera 9.5, Is This A Bug Or A Feature?“.
Today I’ve found one more “possible bug”. When Opera 9.23 and Opera 9.5 Alpha is running and you are trying to launch “Opera 9.5 Alpha\opera.exe” it opens you a blank page (opera:blank) in Opera 9.23 and not Opera 9.5. Why?

Same reason as http://www.favbrowser.com/opera-95-is-this-a-bug-or-a-feature/. It’s Windows’ fault, not Opera’s. And I don’t think Opera should devote time trying to work around Window’s problem (I doubt it’s even possible with the controls of programming. I guess they could rename the exe…).
I have this site in my rss feeds and have noticed that it is slowly going down hill. I subscribed to this site thinking I would get good news reports, however, lately I’ve been getting questions that should have been posted in an Opera Help forum or something. If you’re going to turn this into a personally help site then you will lose viewers. I think that most of your blogs lately are too opinionated to be news. I’d much rather get a tech feed than what someone expected out of a update or release or a bug they may have found. Just my two cents before you lose more viewers.
It’s only 2 questions :-) and nore more. I am posting news as well, if I will ask any specific question that doesn’t mean I won’t post something about web browsers. Hope you understand.
Can’t reproduce, doesn’t happen.
Neither with build 9500 nor with 9542. Didn’t test others.
Procedure:
1. have Opera 9.23 running
2. execute “Opera 9.5\opera.exe”
3. repeat step 2
Nothing happens. Your last “question” “works” here, though.
And dj is right, you should post this on the forums (not saying you can’t post it on your personal blog, but I think forums are a better place to ask questions or report bugs).
With “nothing happens”, I mean the page opens in 9.5, as it should. Unless I misunderstood something.
