Google Chrome 12.0.742.30 Beta Brings Fancy FeaturesThe latest Beta Channel build of Google Chrome (12.0.742.30 that is) has been released a couple of days ago and it’s worth checking out.

What’s New?

– The hardware accelerated 3D CSS support has been finalized and is now available in the following version.

– As reported earlier, by issuing warnings, Google Chrome now protects users from malicious file downloads

– More privacy control! Thanks to co-operation with Adobe, you can now delete Flash Local Shared Objects (LSO’s) directly from the Google’s Chrome settings page.

– Improved screen reader support, thanks to preliminary support for JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver and other popular screen readers.

– Google Gears plug-in is now removed from the web browser.

That’s it for now.

    Fancy? What features?

it just kills me that the “privacy” in chrome is not really that private. i am willing to skip the fact that the browser tracks you (lets face it if you were unhappy with tracking then you might as well not use the internet) but the lack of a master password to encrypt your login credentials is just mind boggling.

    • Rafael says:

“Privacy” related to data the company have of you is the last thing I think… You know, all web browsers collect the kind of impersonal info Chrome does… So what’s the big deal? They’re going to interfere in our personal lives?

meh. don’t come crying to me when your saved passwords are uncrypted and easily accessible by anyone (speaking to the general populous here)

        • Sarjoor says:

If “easily accessible by anyone” means those who have physical access to my computer, that’s fine with me. I trust my family and friends. If not, I can console lock my session before stepping away.

Otherwise, it’s actually not that easy for just anyone to access the saved passwords.

        • Rafael says:

I don’t use Chrome and I don’t save passwords in Opera anyway.

    – hardware accelerated 3D CSS is nice to be future proof, but useless right *now*
    – “issuing warnings” can hardly be called fancy, is it?
    – The ability to delete Flash Local Shared Objects is okayish.
    – I couldn’t care less for improved screen reader support, and I hope I will never have to. This is indeed a fancy feature, but only for 0.001% or so of their user base.
    – Removing Google Gears plug-in is in my eyes a bug fix.

In short, I don’t see any fancy feature. Chrome remains what is was: a very naked browser that does two things extremely well: being fast and providing access to google services.
