JavaScript Benchmarks: Microsoft Edge Vs. Firefox 40 Alpha Vs. Google Chrome 44 vs. IE11
If you need further proof that Microsoft did indeed took some drastic steps cutting down all the Internet Explorer fat and legacy code that came with it, check the latest Jet Stream (owned by Apple) and Octane 2.0 (owned by Google) benchmarking suite results.
As seen in the chart below, Microsoft Edge is significantly faster absorbing JavaScript than its predecessor, Internet Explorer 11, as well as faster than both Firefox 40 and Google Chrome 44 and that says a lot.

Microsoft Details Edge / IE11 Browser Developer Tools
Here is what’s new for the network tool.
Developers, rejoice as the updated F12 Edge developer tools are here and can be tested by anyone running the latest build of Windows 10 or Internet Explorer 11.
As there are tons of new features and improvements, the software giant has decided to reveal them on a post by post basis, separating each dev tools category and the changes that were made.
So what did they reveal today? All about the network tool! There are simply too many improvements to list here but just to name a few: a new design, summary view, new toolbar options and so much more.

Microsoft Details Upcoming Edge Features
The price of a browser reboot.
During the Twitter Q&A session, Microsoft has revealed some of the planned features that haven’t been included yet.
So what exactly can we expect?
– Password, bookmark, tabs and other data sync, which they promised in a “future update”, meaning it could be either before or after it RTMs
– Importing favorites from other web browsers
– Private tabs? Coming too
– And yes, even a status bar is coming in a future update

Microsoft Aims To Get Rid Of The Misleading Ads

You know how you visit a web page only to see 4 different “download” links and being confused on which one is real? Well… Good news for pretty much every single person out there. Starting from June 1st, Microsoft’s SmartScreen Filter (for Internet Explorer and Edge) will become much smarter and better at protecting the users.
According to the software giant, Microsoft will start reporting these ads as unsafe when users goes ahead and clicks on any of those. Thanks to the updated guidelines, here is what ads should not do in order to be marked as safe by the SmartScreen Filter:

Microsoft Edge Will Support Firefox And Chrome Extensions
Not coming anytime soon though.
Good news for all the potential Edge users and extensions developers out there. During Microsoft Build 2015 conference, the software giant has revealed that their upcoming browser will support both Firefox and Google Chrome extensions.
Although it’s not yet certain how exactly will the users will be able to install add-ons and whether or not developers will have to make deep adjustments, Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore did show Reddit Enhancement Suite, which was ported from the Google’s Chrome version.

Project Spartan Becomes Microsoft Edge, New Icon + Video
It’s official.
Yesterday, during its annual developers conference (Build 2015), Microsoft has revealed that (unfortunately) they won’t name Internet Explorer successor Spartan. Instead the team has decided to call the new browser under its rendering engine name: Microsoft Edge.
