Internet Explorer 10 is Touch Optimized, Windows 8 Is Major UpgradeAccording to Win7China (which is a credible source), Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) will include a major UI overhaul which is set to be more touch optimized than previous IE versions. Furthermore, company is stressing the importance of overall web browser performance as well.

As far as it is known now, those are the two main goals for Microsoft.

What is more interesting is Windows 8 UI. Win7China reports that changes between Windows 7 and Windows 8 will be far greater than everyone expected.

In fact, source compared the new Windows 8 interface to Windows 1.0 > 3.1 > Windows 95 migration.

The future looks awesome.

Firefox 4 to Release on Tuesday

Firefox 4 was originally slated for November of 2010, but after a dozen betas, the 22nd of March may be the final release date. That is the new release date stated by Mozilla anyway.

The current release candidate was labeled as good enough to ship as the final product on Wednesday by Mozilla developers. This contrasts with what Mozilla has done in the past, namely ship multiple release candidates until finally determining the shipping code. Firefox 3.6, for example, had two release candidates issued by Mozilla before reaching its audience more than a year ago.

Opera for Windows Phone 7With the announcement of upcoming Opera Mobile 11 and Opera Mini 6 releases, Norwegian browser maker has also revealed that Windows Phone 7 will be receiving its own version of Opera as well (dubbed Opera Mobile).

“In our lineup, all players are equally important–we leave no device behind. Our small and clever pieces of software will give you a 5-star experience, no matter what hardware you prefer”, said Lars Boilesen, the CEO of Opera Software.

Next week should be pretty exciting.

Update: It looks like it might be coming to Windows 7 tablets instead.

Opera Mini is set for Android, BlackBerry, Symbian/Series 60 and J2ME devices while Opera Mobile 11 supports Android, Symbian, Windows 7 and eGo platforms.

IE9: 2.3 Million Downloads in 24 HoursInternet Explorer 9 has been just recently released and the first numbers are in.

According to IE Blog, the latest version of Microsoft’s web browser has been downloaded more than 2.3 million times in the first 24 hours! That’s 27 downloads every second.

Numbers are huge when compared to IE9 Beta (1 million) or IE9 RC (500,000) downloads in the same time period.

After quite a few snapshot builds, here comes the first beta of Opera 11.10 web browser.

What’s New?

Opera 11.10 Beta introduces an improved version of Speed Dial which now allows you to have an unlimited number of sites. Furthermore, a new algorithm zooms into the logo instead of displaying the whole web site.

As for other changes, Opera 11.10 will now download a Flash plug-in in the background automatically (in case site requires one), includes CSS3 multi-column layouts and gradients support, Web Open Font Format and WebP image protocol.

But these are more than just rumors, according to internal Windows 8 testers, Milestone 3 builds already have early versions of IE10 pre-installed.
