Opera 9.5 Beta 2 Soon to Come
April 18, 2008
It looks like Opera 9.5 Beta 2 will be released very soon. I guess after yesterday’s one more weekly build from Opera Desktop Team with title “Beta 2 is Coming…” sums it up. I predict the release of Opera 9.5 Beta 2 on the next Wednesday. But don’t take my word for it.

it’s out but still no announcement or changelog ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/950b2/
nothing really changed between beta1 and beta2. compared to progress between betas of ff3 there is almost no improvements
still most major pages dont work (gmail2, yahoo, hotmail, live.com, youtube embeded videos play at random etc), silverlight doesnt work, performance compared to safari 3.1/ff3 is very poor.
there is almost no improvement between 9.27 and 9.50b2.. and lots of stuff were deliberately broken in 9.50 - no shell context menu in downloads, no file extensions in cache, completly borked ’save’ dialog, incredibly stupid new shortuc layout (and idiotic programming - what does the ‘enable single key shortcuts’ option does when one selects ‘9.20 compatible’? hardcoding? that is very bad coding practice, VERY bad) to list a few.
only hope are developer tools that are coming on 6th of may, however if they are going to be net-based, not core-based they are going to be useless.

Looks like this Russian site was first to spot a new file showing up on Opera’s servers: http://www.slo.ru/news/entry/214
Can’t wait to try it when I get home!
