July, 2013 Desktop Market Share: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome – Up; Firefox, Safari, Opera – Down

By | August 6, 2013

It’s hot as hell out there but the posts must flow (there’s a Dune reference somewhere), especially when it comes to tech news.

Kicking things of with Internet Explorer, Microsoft’s big blue browser just keeps edging higher, up from 56.15% to 56.61% (0.46 point increase).

Firefox on the other hand has since slipped below the 19% mark, down from 19.15% to 18.29% (0.86 point decrease).

And speaking of Firefox, Google Chrome is as close to overtaking it as it has ever been, last month it managed to increase its market share by 0.59 point, up from 17.17% to 17.76%.

The least interesting of them all (at least for Windows users) is Apple’s Safari, down from 5.55% to 5.42% (0.13 point decrease).

Lastly, Opera, which continues to struggle with its user base post rendering engine switch, down by 0.09 point, from 1.58% to 1.49%. Next earnings report should be pretty interesting,

That’s all for now, folks.

I wonder if Opera is getting detected as Chrome in this now, since many website will treat Opera Blink as Chrome.
