January, 2013 Mobile Market Share: Safari, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer – Up; Opera Mini, Android – Down

By | February 4, 2013

As the “New Year” passes by, it’s time to take a look at the mobile market share data for January, 2013, which includes one new player: Internet Explorer.

Even though Apple did not increase its market share during Christmas holidays, Safari did manage to regain some of it last month, up from 60.56% to 61.02% (0.46 point increase).

After the initial spike to 26%, Android Browser has lost pretty much all of its gains and is edging towards the 20% mark, down from 22.10% to 21.46% (0.64 point decrease).

It looks like Opera Mini is back below the 10% mark, down from 10.71% to 9.84% (0.87 point decrease).

Google Chrome on the other hand had a solid bump and has since crossed the 2% barrier, up from 1.48% to 2.02% (0.54 point increase).

Finally, Internet Explorer has managed to increase its market share by 0.18 point, up from 1.16% to 1.34%, not a bad start but we wonder who will reach 10% mark first, IE or Chrome.

Overall, no major nor drastic changes. That’s all for now, folks.

    You are crazy :D

How can you suggest that OS that do not have 4% is smartphone sales can reach 10% of web usage :D

But heaving dreams is good. Or so they say ;)

Mobile is more than just a smart phones.

And if that was the case, iPhone should have 0% of the market share, because that’s what it had years ago, unless of course… market share is not a constant.

Apart from smartphones WinP do not have any presence. So if you pick broader market, than actual market share for WinP would be even smaller.

iPhone had 1y ago 0% of market share? Something is missing in your sentence.

Suspect 60%+ only identify as safari but less than half are actually running safari or even on an ios device
