If you’ve been using Arial Narrow, Arial Black or similar fonts and they are not recognized in Firefox web browser while styling UL LI listings; here are a few ways to fix it:
- If you are not a web developer:
Tools > Options > Advanced > General Tab
Uncheck “Use hardware acceleration when available”
- If you are a web developer (assuming you use Arial Narrow):
Include the following lines
Why does this happen? According to Jonathan Kew, the member of bugzilla:
It is probably that “Arial Black” and”Arial Narrow” are not recognized as font families under DirectWrite, but are treated as additional members of the Arial family. To access these faces, use font-family: Arial together with appropriate font-weight and font-stretchproperties.
Assuming that works, this is correct behavior under the DirectWrite font model, which is no longer limited to GDI’s idea of “families”.
