December, 2012 Desktop Market Share: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Opera – Up; Firefox, Safari – Down

By | January 3, 2013

When you look back, in 2011 a lot of people thought that Internet Explorer was pretty much doomed and that Google Chrome and Firefox will dominate the desktop space for an indefinite amount of time. Well, look how things have change… or did they?

Steady as she goes, Internet Explorer is up again, from 54.76% to 54.77% (0.1 point increase). Who knows, maybe it will reach 60% by the end of 2013.

It looks like Firefox is ending the year on a sour note, down below the 20% mark, from 20.44% to 19.82% (0.62 point decrease).

What happens when you advertise Google Chrome on world’s most popular search engine home page? Its market share goes up, from 17.24% to 18.04% (0.8 point increase).

Just as IE gained, Apple’s Safari has lost the identical amount of the market share, down from 5.33% to 5.24% (0.1 point decrease).

Struggling to gain any momentum for quite some time now, Opera finishes 2012 with a 1.71% market share mark, up from 1.67% (0.04 point increase).

That’s all for now, folks and Happy New Year!

IE has an increase of 0.01% and not 0.1%.

So as we see only IE gained popularity. GOOD.
