Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) vs. Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) (Performance)
I’ve some great news for Internet Explorer users. While IE8 Beta 1 had some performance improvements over IE7, it was not enough and developers knew that. As a result, they’ve made Internet Explorer 8 even faster. As it says:
Some of the tests we have done show pure JScript performance improvements up to 2.5 times. We also measured the performance gains on common Gmail operations, like loading the inbox (34%), opening a conversation (45%) and opening a thread (27%) compared to IE7. Continue Reading
Firefox 3.1 to Receive a JavaScript Performance Upgrade
Guys from Mozilla Firefox team aren’t sleeping. Few days ago they’ve launched a JavaScript engine called TraceMonkey which will be ported in the upcoming Firefox 3.1 release.
So to make it short: in some benchmarks, new engine is almost 40 times faster than the old one! Can you imagine that?
Just take a look at those benchmarks: Continue Reading
Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) Beta 1 vs. Safari 3.1 vs. Firefox 3.0 vs. Opera 9.5 vs Flock (Firefox 2.0) – Browsers Memory Battle #2
After yesterdays post about web browsers memory usage, Morbus provided a great link to Sam’s post which contains graphs and more detailed information. Here’s a conclusion from that link:
Safari 3.1
Safari on Windows shows extremely poor memory management, and I do not know whether it ever reaches a high water mark. If this is by design, it is certainly a design that looks inefficient and seems to contradict Apple’s marketing. Continue Reading
Browsers Memory Battle
There is an article in ComputerWorld.com called “Firefox 3.0 wins memory battle, says tester“. Sam Allen was testing Firefox, Internet Explorer (IE), Flock, Opera and Safari web browsers to see who wins in the memory management. “Test” is quite funny. There are no graphs at all and basically nothing… I guess this is what quality article is all about.
Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) vs. Firefox 3 vs. Safari 3.1.2 vs. Opera 9.5
Here’s another GadgetZone’s article: “Firefox 3 vs IE 7 vs Safari 3.1.2 vs Opera 9.5″.
After new Firefox 3, Safari and Opera 9.5 releases, they’ve re-done browser group test. Feel free to check it.
Firefox 3 vs. Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) vs. Safari 3.1
Some time ago Damien Virulhapan from GadgetZone.com.au sent me an email with the link to article called “Group Test: Firefox 3 vs IE 7 vs Safari 3.1“. Feel free to check it.
I don’t know why Opera wasn’t tested, haven’t got any reply since then.
Firefox 3 Beta 5 vs. Opera 9.5 Beta 2 (Memory Usage)
Just after Opera 9.5 Beta 2 release, Avencius.nl decided to test Firefox 3 Beta 5 and Opera 9.5 Beta 2 Memory Usage. Who’ve won this race? I don’t know, you tell me :-)
Mobile Web Browsers Compatibility Test
Just after Safari and Opera scored 100 in the Acid3 test, W3.org released its own. However, this is not the Acid, although it’s similar to it and tests 12 web technologies. This one will test mobile web browsers… Is this yet another race beginning?
W3.org tried to run it on Blazer 4.3.2.1, Opera Mini 4.1 Beta 1, PSP’s Netfront, Firefox 3 Beta 3, Internet Explorer 6 and “Android emulator webkit-based browser”. Continue Reading
Firefox 3 Beta 5 vs. Safari 3.1 vs. Opera 9.5 Beta (Memory)
Ready for some more browsers fights? OK, I know that this is not a “fancy” test, it’s a basic one, but still interesting to check, right?
I’ve tested April 8th nightly/weekly releases from Firefox, Safari and Opera teams. Continue Reading
Firefox 3 Beta 5 Beats Opera 9.5 Beta and Safari 3.1?
After yesterdays Adrian Kingsley benchmark test (Firefox 3.0 Beta 5 vs. Safari 3.1 on Mac OS X), I’ve decided to add Opera 9.5 Beta and run them on Windows machine.
Used latest browsers builds (nightly or weekly, all released on April 8th. So how were the results? They’ve actually shocked me a bit, so here you go:
