Firefox 2.0.0.12The upcoming Firefox 2.0.0.12 release will fix this flaw. It affects extensions (more than 600) which are installed as a set of uncompressed files instead of widely used .jar files.

Issue
A vulnerability in the chrome protocol scheme allows directory traversal when a “flat” add-on is present resulting in potential information disclosure.

Netscape Navigator - Alive Again?Is it? Not really. However, some time ago AOL announced that they will stop Netscape Navigator support after February 1’st… Well, things changed a bit, they’ve decided to “extend” its support for one more month (March 1’st).

As it says in their blog post:

Mozilla, Flock and AOL are working together to provide tools to ease the migration of existing Netscape browser users to our recommended Flock and Firefox alternatives. Both Flock and Firefox are built on the same Mozilla Firefox codebase.

Once I allowed myself to think about this I realized that John will be a better CEO for the MoCo going forward than I would be. I’m sure that I was the right person for this role during the first years of MoCo; I’m equally sure that John is the best person for this role in the future.

2007 December Browsers Market Share Results

2007 December Browsers Market Share Results It’s time for the December, 2007 web browsers market share report. See November stats here.
As you will see in this graph, there are some noticeable changes for the Opera web browsers. Not sure why, but both of them (Opera and Opera Mini) got slightly different values than they should. It’s the second month, so not sure if it’s a bug. However, we have keep going and post what we know.

Yet another bad month for the Internet Explorer. This time it felt from 77.35% to 76.04% (1.31% decrease).

Firefox market share continues growing and might reach 20% very soon, they have increased its market share by 0.79%: from 16.01% to 16.80%. Continue Reading
