Mozilla's Co-founder Leaves The CompanyMike Shaver, the founding member of Mozilla in 1998, has decided to leave everyone’s beloved organization.

While it comes as a surprise, it’s nothing new to Mozilla. Earlier this year, Mike Beltzner, the director of Firefox has departed from the company as well, followed by John Resig, a JavaScript evangelist, who left Mozilla just few months ago.

As far as the future holds, Mike has not yet though about that, as he wrote: “I haven’t yet decided what’s next, though I have some exciting opportunities to explore. I am still truly, madly, deeply in love with Mozilla and the web it is building, and grateful for the opportunities that it’s created for me,”

Firefox For Android Honeycomb Makes A Debut

A couple of days ago, Mozilla has released its first nightly build of Firefox Mobile (Fennec) for Android tablets, which according to developers has reached a functional stage and is good enough for collecting the feedback.

With the continuous Android growth, Mozilla is betting big on the Google’s mobile platform to keep Firefox momentum going. As far as Windows Phone goes, it’s unlikely to receive attention from Mozilla anytime soon.

Opera Releases New 12.00 Pre Alpha BuildBeats Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 2 in the Test262 test suite, fails against PP3.

Continuing the development of Opera 12, Norwegian browser maker has recently released a new build which features a full ECMAScript (JavaScript) 5.1 support and few other goodies.

According to Wikipedia, Opera 12.00 pre-alpha (build 1065) fails only at 5 out of 10978 tests which is slightly better than IE10 PP2 as it scored 7/10935.

With the addition of a spell check, the latest Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 3 build that comes with the Windows 8 Developer Preview (download here) now includes a new auto correct feature, according to Microsoft.

Furthermore, IE10 PP3 now supports CSS Text Shadow, CSS 3D Transforms, CSS3 Transitions and Animations, CSS3 Gradient, SVG Filter Effects and other web standards.

Firefox 9 Release Date, JM And Type Inference Engine Numbers

With the upcoming addition of Type Inference, a new JavaScript type inference engine for Firefox 9, Mozilla has recently included its benchmark results in the AreWeFastYet web site.

According to the source, Jaegermonkey with TI enabled scores well above its predecessors and even manages to beat Google Chrome in the SunSpider JavaScript test.

Firefox To Receive New Download Manager

Potentially in Firefox 9.

The latest nightly builds of Firefox web browser now includes a new download manager, which can be accessed via icon or simply by tapping CTRL+J keys.

As seen in the screenshot above, it looks like Mozilla hasn’t just implemented a yet another icon. Instead, users will be able to see download progress and its estimate without accessing the mentioned download manager.
