Windows Phone 8 Web Browser Pops Up In HTML5 Benchmarks

Can’t beat Opera or Firefox Mobile.

Continuing the development of Internet Explorer 10 for the Windows Phone 8, (which is set to be a very different game) Microsoft’s web browsers has popped up in the recent HTML5 test results and as of now, they are not that impressive.

As seen in the table below, while WP8 Dev build scores 298 points, it still fails to match the recent stable builds of Opera Mobile 12, Firefox Mobile 10 and iOS 5.

In addition to that, when you compare WP8 to other web browsers that are also in development, you can instantly see that IE10 is far from competitive.

However, what is more interesting is the fact that Tizen 1 (Samsung’s “in dev” web browser) and BlackBerry 10 beat the Opera Mobile 12, a current leader in the HTML5 test, which should give Opera a nice kick in the butt.

Both in development but I imagine Opera Mobile is always being actively developed who knows how far ahead it’s reached by now in the Lab.

      Leveraging your quotation…
And like it’s a big deal… Repeat this mantra everyday: “HTML5 is not finished yet!!”, so it cannot be fully supported by now.

There’s no race to support it, as the specifications get mature (good, analyzed and approved by the participants of the working group. etc) they’ll be implemented.

And just before Opera 12 release Opera wasn’t the “leader”.

Given that Opera Mobile uses the same core as Opera Desktop, and Opera Desktop just got a huge HTML5 test bump, i’m guessing Opera Mobile will quickly catch up.
It’s a shame Opera don’t offer up a Opera Mobile Next version like they do for Opera Mini.

Good to see IE is still in the game.
