Who needs top 10 lists anyway?
Some time ago, Mozilla has announced that Firefox add-ons have been downloaded more than 3 billion times. In addition to that, the open source organization has revealed the top 8 add-ons by downloads. Why top 8 and not top 10? We have no idea.
Anyway, here is a list of the mentioned extensions, from least to most popular:
#8. DownThemAll, 1.9 million active daily users
#7. Personas Plus, 2 million active daily users
#6. NoScript, 2.1 million active daily users
#5. Download Statusbar, 2.2 million active daily users
#4. Greasemonkey, 2.8 million active daily users
#3. Firebug, 3 million active daily users
#2. Video DownloadHelper, x million active daily users
#1. Adblock Plus, 13.5 million active daily users

Haha so typical. Of course I mean x million active daily users.
Mozilla did not post stats for that particular extension :)
I thought x stood for roman 10.
No surprise, 2, 5 and 7 I used in my FF days.
“Revealed” is probably too strong a word. It’s more like newsposted. The statistics are available to all, all the time.
“Why top 8 and not top 10? We have no idea.”Because relly geek people doesn’t like the decimal system, so they had to choose 8 or 16 extensions to show!
How about top 2? That should be far more geeky.
Siurprises? Oh oh every FF use uses Ad Block. Not. Minority. And only minority uses extensions. Why? Because they are very complex, you have to restart your browser after installation. They suck. Users want a few options not when your options dialog shows gazillion variants, its stupid, geeks don’t understand usability and intuitive UI.
Actually, you ever heard of the long tail?
2/3 Firefox user use extensions. So the majority uses them.
No. 2/3 FF users have extensions, and for most of them, those got installed but their geek friend. Those extension is not used, but gets updated regularly
