The Maxthon 3.1 Story (Or How I Slayed The Dragon)

The Maxthon 3.1 Story (Or How I Slayed The Dragon) During my Chinese web browser “Maxthon 3.1 Beta”, review (which is yet to come), I saw an innocent looking button, which suggested me to download some themes, little did I know that this would turn into a nightmare

The story goes like this… I click on the button to check some themes and strange thing happens: it redirects me to a forum. No problem, I thought, it’s just a Beta, maybe there are no official skins yet.

I scroll through few titles and click on a random skin name, it looks good.

So I click “download” and it leads me to the DevinatArt.com web page. That’s okay, I click on a download link there and open the archive. No themes here, just a text file:

This starts to get slightly annoying. I head over to the mentioned download page, go to downloads section and guess what? There is no such skin!

My patience is about to crack but I am not giving up yet! I scroll through few forum replies and notice an updated version (2.5) in later posts. Again, it leads to the DeviantArt.com web site, I click “download” and guess what I download this time?

A .PNG file…

You want a war? All right, you fat ****, I’ll show you a war!

My palms start sweating and blood pressure rises… I can feel the adrenaline rush and it feels good, real good… My body is preparing itself for a fight as the prime reptilian brain takes over the control. This is it. There is no turning back now…

My laser eyes start scanning through the text… Details, cod damn it, I need details!

I see another link and enter the arena… I can feel it, my enemy is trembling in fear now, but the battle has begun and there is no stopping now.

A desperate last attempt to inflict some pain but I can’t feel it anymore…

The Maxthon 3.1 Story (Or How I Slayed The Dragon)

I take what is mine and drop down on my knees, tears run down my cheeks and I shout as loud as I possibly can… I won! I won!!!

It looks nothing like in the picture but I don’t care. I CTRL+ALT+Delete that thing and unload my backpack. It has cookies and milk, a breakfast of champions…

I knew you were a reptile from the beginning.

Its Chinese software. What did you expect?

    • Haha!

Well, Chinese people make a lot of quality stuff too :P Xbox, HTC, Apple products, etc.

        Sorry bud. I said SOFTWARE.

In the case if Apple the software is designed in California. You get what I tell -ya.

Those companies have outsourced their manufacturing to China. The process is under their control.

Have you seen the cheap crap that comes from china? One that is not back by a multi billion dollar company.

Although reading you comment for a second time, it sounds to me that it was a ‘cheek in tongue’ statement.

        • Agreed with your statement. As for software, it wasn’t Maxthon fault but I believe Microsoft hires Chinese people to write Windows, or some part of it, although I am sure they control it a lot.

This is not the problem of Maxthon but of the skin maker who couldn’t give a normal download place. I think nobody should blame a software because of a fan does some not clear things.

Also Vygantas is right, there are lot of Chinese quality products.

The designer of the skin make this, I think you should not blame the maxthon official.
