OmniWeb Browser is Now Free

Earlier this week Omni Group has announced that its Mac only web browser OmniWeb (as well as few other applications) is now free. Looks like there are not so many (if any) paid browsers left for desktop computers anymore.

One of the shareware web browsers for Mac OS X has just received an update which includes new version of WebKit, few bug fixes and minor interface changes.
What’s new in this release?
WebKit
This release is primarily an update to the version of WebKit in use by OmniWeb. OmniWeb is now based on the same WebKit in use by Safari 3.1. This includes the latest security patches and features included with Safari 3.1.x such as downloadable fonts, CSS Animation, HTML 5 media tags and client side database storage. Read more
OmniWeb 5.7 Final Released

OmniWeb team just released OmniWeb 5.7 Final. The new version now requires Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later. Among various interface upgrades, performance improvements and few new features, OmniWeb 5.7 is now based on WebKit stability branch which is used by Safari 3.0. OmniWeb 5.7 Beta Released

The first OmniWeb 5.7 Beta version is now released. This build introduces various interface changes, for example: updated icons as well as fixed bugs and speed improvements. Please note that it’s not a final release, also OmniWeb is not a free web browser and works with Mac OS X only. Read more
