Firefox OS Sees Great Developer InterestFor the mobile OS that is yet to be launched, it looks like Mozilla’s Firefox OS was received pretty enthusiastically in the developer community. As it turns outs, 25% of all mobile developers have expressed their interest in Firefox OS, beating BlackBerry and Tizen devices.

In addition to that, the survey also shows a 35% interest in the HTML mobile apps, which is exactly what Mozilla is gambling on.

According to Mozilla’s roadmap, the open source organization aims to deliver the final version of Firefox for Windows 8 on November 19, 2013, assuming everything goes as planned.

However, there are two other dates that should be taken into consideration: October 02, 2013, which is tagged as “Optimistic Release Scenario” and March 20, 2014 as a worst case scenario.

Although under the hood changes are always nice, it’s not as exciting as something that even the average Joe can see and touch. Yes, we are talking about the UI changes here. Thankfully, the upcoming Firefox 23 release for Android will do just that, focus on various user interface improvements that is, from changed icons to new animations when tabs are added or removed as well as other effects.

Firefox Brand Used To Cover SpywareMozilla isn’t too happy about it.

According to a report by Citizen Lab, Gamma International, a UK based firm that produces surveillance software (FinFisher), is tricking people into installing their spyware on their machines, which is later masked as Firefox.exe.

As noted in the Mozilla’s blog post, “when a user examines the installed spyware on his/her machine by viewing its properties, Gamma misrepresents its program as “Firefox.exe” and includes the properties associated with Firefox along with a version number and copyright and trademark claims attributed to “Firefox and Mozilla Developers.”

Opera Sues Its Ex-Employee For $3.4 MillionClaims he took trade secrets to Mozilla.

Now here is a new drama for you. Apparently, Opera Software is suing one of its visionary ex-employees, Trond Werner Hansen, who joined the company in 1999 and worked till 2006, then left shortly after only to join for another year from 2009 to 2010.

Why visionary? According to the claims, he was behind a lot of innovations that everyone loves, including tabbed browsing, speed dial, mouse gesture and integrated search.
