64 Bit Windows Firefox Is Finally ComingNot anytime soon though.

After ditching its plans to continue the development of 64 bit Firefox builds that would be available to general public, it looks like due to the fear that Microsoft won’t release the 32 bit build of Windows 10, Mozilla has changed its mind again and has now revealed more about its x86-64 plans.

It has since updated the Firefox/win64 page and announced 3 development phases:

Phase 1: Release a separate installer with 64-bit payload. Deliver to users via “what’s new” page. Ensure 64-bit builds are served by default to those who choose to covert to 64-bit. Sans Flash Support. Sans the majority of binary Add-Ons.

Who is he? Mr. Chris Beard first joined Mozilla back in 2004 so he does know a thing or two about the company. Earlier this year he re-joined the company as the member of the Board of Directors and the interim CEO.

Recently, Mozilla has announced a new Firefox OS device which is company’s first attempt at a “reference design” phone. Aimed at developers and contributors, the goal was to create a mid-tier phone with the lowest price possible.

The following device, dubbed Flame is equipped with a Qualcomm dual core 1.2 Ghz Snapdragon CPU; a 4.5 inch 480p display; dual SIM and NFC support.

It appears that Mozilla has finally cracked down from all the content industry pressure and is no longer against implementing DRM into its web browser, at least not against in a way that they refuse to do it. Everything else is pretty much just a PR talk.

According to the latest report, Firefox will include a code that installs Adobe’s DRM when presented with a media that requests such rights management.

The news come after a couple of Eich’s interviews where he repeatedly said that he will not resign over this issue. All sources claim that it was his own decision and that it wasn’t forced by the board.

According to recode, Mozilla Executive Chairwoman Mitchell Baker “became emotional at one point during the interview – noted that she was “doing a fair amount of self-reflection and I am wondering how did I miss it that this would matter more when he was the CEO.”
