BOLT Mobile Browser Discontinued BOLT, a little web browser that could, has announced the end of its saga.

Some time last year, June 2010, to be exact, BOLT has published a press release, claiming that is has rendered its billionth page with more than 7.3 million active users worldwide. Well, as it turns out, the economic circumstances did its own thing and those numbers are no longer relevant.

What did the company have to say? Not much.

BOLT Renders Its Billionth Page

Mobile web browser BOLT, which is now used by more than 7.3 million people worldwide, has rendered its billionth web page, Bitstream (company behind it) announced earlier this week.

“In July of last year Bitstream announced that BOLT climbed past 100 million Web pages rendered” … “The first 100 million pages are always the hardest.”

Said Anna Magliocco-Chagnon, CEO of Bitstream.

Bolt 1.5 Mobile Browser out of Beta

Bolt 1.5 Mobile Browser out of Beta With the release of version 1.5, mobile web browser Bolt has finally reached stable release tree. Claiming to be more than 15% faster than previous Beta 3 release, it aims to compete against Opera Mini or other popular web browsers.

Bolt has quite two strong points: it’s free and works with multiple platforms, such as: Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and pretty much every Java based handset. Also, they claim that “it loads pages at least 25%-50% faster than competing mobile browsers”.
