By | March 30, 2010

What happens when you remove all the user tracking and background services from Google Chrome? You get SRWare Iron, a Chromium source based web browser that is concerned to protect your privacy. Furthermore, it includes an integrated ad-blocker and “easy to change” User Agent.

i use this browser sometimes ago, but decide to use chrome (again) when the version 5 beta release

  2. caschy says:

Chrome 4.1 has no Client-ID. Welcome 2010! Iron is Chromium with a few extensions.

  3. RamaSubbu SK says:

For enduser Chrome doesn’t add much value when compared to Iron/Chromium. Chrome basically steals information from the user and sends it to Google, so Google can improve their search.
Can Microsoft do the same with IE , then I think – whole world will shout at M$ for Privacy concerns?
Anyhow I don’t use Chrome or Chromium. I’m using IE & Opera and I’m happy.

Lol, M$ already is stealing your information the second you agree to the EULA. You are being monitored right now!

      • RamaSubbu SK says:

Yes, Microsoft use to do that, but not now. By default it is turned off and under user explicitly turn it on. You all have to be updated. Now, Google is following the same path. By default they are turning on all the back information stealing.

    • Dels says:

Microsoft already did that with the Alexa “trojan” start from XP

    • nvm says:

Chrome doesn’t steal any information whatsoever.

That iron is really old (since version 1.0 of chrome), doesn’t mean that Vygantas heard of it ^^

The problem is: many feature in this table (stolen of Irons page) are able to turn off by the user, if he/she wants it: but mostly you don’t want this (like the search suggestions!). On the other hand: google is more and more removing features like – already sead – the unique ID. SRWare has problems since two years to integrate an update system (said in their forum), so that the user don’t need to update by hand (the only critic-point on googles update mechanism is that you are unable to turn it of or do it, when you want to do it. Turn of easily with a gui!)

SRWare Iron was something cool, but I don’t think that it is really need any longer. Don’t understand how they make money with that application!

recently i started using Iron, as Opera has a log in problem in Facebook! … trying Iron was a great experience, all chrome extensions work on it! now Opera solved the log in issue, and i am back to opera! Iron has a official portable version!

Okay, so which web browser has the best balance between features and security?   My OS is MS Windows 7 Professional.

  8. George Caldwell says:

Iron has a updated version now it is harder for them to update because there funds are not so high as googles or mozillas. However there version before this latest one worked well for me so waiting for the update was not that big of a deal to me. Iron is my number 1 choice it replaced firefox they should change firefox’s name to firecrash thats all that browser does now is lag and crash.

  9. Iron is my favorite browser. Fast and no clutter!

SRWare Iron Can’t Be Trusted – At Least Not Yet!

They’ve developed a so called privacy oriented browser that played on the paranoia of the general public for ad revenue as their prerogative all along.

Did you know what the developer was quoted as saying? Google is Evil and the German people don’t like Google, well cool I’m not bothered with that, that’s all cool, I don’t personally trust Google either.

Then what else do they now do, run Google Adsense on their site and support running Google banners on their startpage site also.

Look, you call Google evil then you are seen supporting Google, what is that telling us? I’ll tell you, one big mixed bag of messages that should make you think real hard.

So can this developer really be trusted and should we really support SRWare Iron.

Well one thing is certain, until this developer starts flying right and shows us some of these true colors of mistrust towards Google, then it’s looking really fishy and this is all the real truth around here about this SRWARE Iron! :(

Go research it and see for yourself!

    PEACE
