Speed Up Your FireFox with SpeedyFoxIf you’ve been heavily using Firefox web browser and noticed decreasing performance, then maybe it’s time for you to try new tool called “SpeedyFox” (Windows only).

What can it do?

Boost Firefox startup in up to 3 times
Speed-up browsing history
Quicker operation with cookies

So how does it work?

“Firefox uses SQLITE databases to store lots of its settings. By the time the databases grow and Firefox starts working slowly. SpeedyFox compacts those databases without loosing any data.”

“The optimization process can take anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour depending on how large your databases are. The whole optimization process is safe as it does not effect your history, bookmarks, passwords, etc.”

Wow, first piece of software made to optimize firefox that is not an xpi.

The information given about what it does and how it works contains some filler buzzwords such as, “up to 3 times”. That means that this will make your firefox run faster anywhere from 0 to 3 times; on average that’s 1.5x. So based on their claims how long would it take to benefit since it takes anywhere from five minutes to one hour?

If I was betting, all this .exe does is vacuum your .sqlite files. Assuming that this is true and that’s all it does, this .exe is useless since a method (which has been circulating firefox blogs over the last few weeks) has already been provided and it doesn’t require the firefox user to install anything.

The following is what I think the thought process was of whoever created SpeedyFox”

    – Hay! Someone posted on their blog of a new way to speed up firefox!
    – Sounds like the perfect business opportunity to trick users into viewing advertisements
    – Hopefully some of them will click the links to install my other software projects such as “Uninstall Tool” or AnyToISO Converter”

I guess this explains why this would be “Windows only”, no user of other OSes would click those links anyway.
