Play Mozilla’s 3D Browser Game: RescueFox

By | October 4, 2011

RescueFox

Fully compatible with Firefox only.

If you are keen on trying Gladius, Mozilla’s 3D browser engine, then today is that day.

In the official blog announcement, an open source organization has revealed its ambition to push the 3D gaming into the web, and that’s exactly what latest project of Mozilla (codenamed Paladin) does.

First example: a prototype game called RescueFox; you have 90 seconds to find a fox in the outer space and feed it with that delicious oxygen.

Hate it? Do not worry, according to Mozilla, another micro game is already in the works and will be released shortly.

Play the game.

[Thanks, Ichan]

How do you push something “to the web” when its only working in one specific browser?

    • Anonymous says:

Is it only working in one specific browser because they are using proprietary Firefox tech, or because other browsers don’t support what’s needed to run the thing?

I think Mozilla’s idea is to deprecate (kill?) Unity3D and instead replace it with a WebGL game engine. But just Firefox? How’s that pushing something to the web?

    • Anonymous says:

Are you sure it’s just for Firefox, and if so, what’s the reason? Is it because they’re blocking other browsers or because it uses things that are open standards but other browsers don’t support yet?

Using Firefox 7.0.1 on Windows7, I click the above link “Play The Game” and was taken to the webpage; http://rescuefox.mozillalabs.com/src/index.html … It was blank, and stayed blank.
Is this simply a matter of a broken link?
