  1. I’ll begin… Overall it looks ok, they tried to be funny and/or creative. Though sound engineering is far from good.

it would be nicer for Opera if their own video played in Opera.

new youtube embeds DO NOT work in Opera :)

btw. the new youtube version does not work well with Opera anyway

Hi! First post here. Nice site, I’m starting to read here often.

Hmm… I think it’s a nice video, though a bit… just plain. Or maybe i think that because I’m from Latin America and not from Europe. :P Anyway, I love Opera. =D

“new youtube embeds DO NOT work in Opera :) ”

What are you saying? They DO work well, and in case they don’t, as the embeds are AdobeFlash-dependant, I would start looking on that place first. Sometimes the player won’t show anything, but that also happens in Mozilla Firefoz, too. Try reloading the page, it often works.

O RLY? ‘Cause i just saw this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf5szwz6Qzc and guess what: no flaws, no errors.

  4. Hey,

    Glad you joined us.

Regarding YouTube, just checked, everything works fine in Opera 9.27. Though I don’t like their beta version and/or any other similar players due sound control button placement.

New youtobe embeds DO NOT work in 9.5beta. they dont, and it doesnt matter whos fault it is – they do not work in opera, and opera is at the loosing end. adobe doesnt give a damn if their flash does or doesnt work well in opera, list of ‘unclosable flash ads’ goes on and on. thats the price of being minor browser vs monopolyst in rich media (adobe) – adobe is always right.

reloading the page makes it use OLD embeds (compare button placement – they are easy to tell one from another), and even if it used new one, it still isnt a solution.

    LOL

First of all, you just can’t complain about a failure on a beta version of a program -any program- unless you’re looking for bugs *and reporting them to the developers*. Jeez, if things like this would happen on a Firefox beta release, then I’m sure you would do that. That’s what beta releases are about: if you choose to use it, the it is assumed that you are aware it could likely fail. The people at Desktop team just wrote this to be read:

WARNING: These are development snapshots: they contain the latest changes, but they also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, they may not work at all.

In my case, I heavily relay on Internet info consulting, and I use a stable 9.27 release, heavily customized. Also a weekly build is installed, although I don’t use so often due to it’s incomplete (but promising :P) nature. It’s a matter of common sense.

    And at last…

    “…adobe is always right.”

As I see, any browser using the Adobe Flash plug-in could be affected. ANY BROWSER. I hope this problem doesn’t grow too big and the peolple at Adobe can find a solution soon.

you dont get it. it doesnt matter who is ‘right’ it matters who is the one that consequences apply to. adobe is not suffering at all because of opera+flash+youtube fail. it is opera that suffers, so adobe is right. if you still dont get it, sorry, real world might be just too big for you.

“First of all, you just can’t complain about a failure on a beta version of a program”

ofc I can. betas become finals. what changes is a number and a name. there is no magical maturing process that separates finals from betas, they are developed a little longer, but it applies to minor issues. opera’ problems with flash are long term, prolongated major issues that are not going to be solved soon. they most likely are due to opera different implementation of netscape plugin model, that also makes silverlight fail (another longterm issue that is already case lost, because JS libraries that are reqiured to fuel silverlight cant be tested in opera, because silverlight does not in opera)

if finals were so good, there would have never been 9.27, becaue 9.00 was a final, so no bugs.

and yes, I submitted few bugs to firefox team, due to their OPEN and EASY to use bug tracking system. opera’ is closed and I dont like that.
