As for biased, don’t really want to argue, but I don’t agree :-) However, since there are more than a few comments, I must be wrong. Maybe it looks like that due to ie/eu case (not a huge fan, as you might guess (and no longer posting my views on it)). In any case, waiting for tomorrow.

Well, I must say you are extremely biased against Opera. As an independent observer I have noticed this, so it’s pretty bad. I don’t blame you, I personally am biased against IE8, Vista and in fact most Microsoft products. Anyway, have you checked the source code of Opera’s “Freedom” page? I just didn’t notice that in your article… But I guess we’ll find out soon enough!

And I don’t think saying they are re-inventing the web, if they are just making a ‘better’ version of Jetpack, wouldn’t be a great marketing ploy. Any halfwit would see it was a load of balls, and it would in fact work against them.

And just to say, I’m not pro-Opera. I’m not pro-any-browser. I use them all, randomly and impartially, except IE8 which I really can’t stand, though I still use it… occasionally.

Freedom refers to the 4 Freedoms according to the book of Stallman
four kinds of freedom, for the users of the software:

* The freedom to run the program, for any purpose (freedom 0).
* The freedom to study how the program works, and adapt it to your needs (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
* The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor (freedom 2).
* The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements (and modified versions in general) to the public, so that the whole community benefits (freedom 3). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.

Opera is going FLOSS!!!

Would you feel less of an ‘obligation’ to use FF is there was another good FLOSS multiplatform browser?

Its ‘non-free’ and I still use it. Its that good.

Would open sourcing it make it easier for people to use Opera extensions to FF3 and vice versa?

Vygantas is anything but fair to Opera. He is clearly biased, and always puts it down for some reason.

Is he a Firefox fanboy or a Chrome fanboy? None of them get as much shit from Vygantas as Opera does. This includes the EU case where both Mozilla and Google joined the complaint, but he’s still only whining about Opera and how evil Opera was for reporting a crime to the authorities.
