Good & Thanks. You didn’t mandate us to create a account to comment which I generally hate.

and im not so happy to see it

first – it is bloated ie. uses a LOT more space than previous comments, with 1-10 comments it doesnt hurt, with 10+ it starts to get annoying unfortunately

second – it is another domain and as experience shows, disqus isnt the fastest and most stable host around, so from time to time there are no comments at all, because disqus is having tech problems.

oh, and default order (as it was before here) should be ‘oldest first’ it seems like default for disqus is ‘newest first’. this is nitpicking but.

and final – recent comments widget on main page is UGLY :( is there an option to add some css-love to it? it stands out, uses different font and in general is simply ugly.

other than that, it might be :)

    • 1. That’s a valid point. Will see if styling can be re-done
      2. Hmm, haven’t experienced that one yet, will wait and see :-)
      3. Agreed! It is set as “oldest first” here.
      4. Looks okay to me, is it worse than old one? Any ideas? But yeah, there are some things that can and will be done.

EDIT: Font is the same, somehow bold remains in index page, although I remove such property, will see.

    • Hmm, somehow index page comments won’t style, but do work fine when viewing post. Is it better or worse now? :-) Just text…

      • nobody says:

see that youve tried to fix some stuff, it is still brutally bloated :/ and probably will forever be, it is disqus trademark

is there any gain you have from this switch? because it isnt even an evolution, it changing something that worked for another thing that works but takes more space and loads much longer

if you can, maybe move like/reply buttons to the gray bar with user name? it is a waste of space that multilpies by number of posts

and maybe increase font size by 1px? small fonts look cool but are hard to read and they magnify the ‘bloat’ issue here

        • nobody says:

there are also two more issues:

you need TWO clicks on the text area to be SURE that it is focused

and there are serious data replication/consistency issues – main page/page widgets show old comments, while there are newer available.

given how dispersed CDNs work, and how hard (almost impossible – light speed is only that fast 120ms from eu to americas, 340 from eu to korea and japan) it is to keep them in sync and be fast at the same time, i think that disqus wasnt the best choice, it isnt like your bandwich usage dropped much

    Wow, I can post anonymously!

Anyone goes to reddit.com. After the ie9 AMA(Ask Me Anything), Opera have now doing there AMA over there, where they answer a few questions.

  9. All right, your post made too much sense, so I have switched back to old model, DISQUS posted comments are lost :-)

    Thanks!

    Sorry for lost comments.

    • nobody says:

fortunately there were no opera related news, so we really didnt lost much :D
