Junior: The iPad Web Browser From Mozilla

Junior: The iPad Web Browser From Mozilla“Reinvents” web browser by borrowing ideas from the Internet Explorer 10.

Well, here is something different for your news flow. After releasing Firefox Mobile for the Android devices, Mozilla went ahead and skinned a new web browser for the iPad, which, as you might guess, does use WebKit to render everything.

After a small introduction, guys at Mozilla said that they “wanted to make something entirely new” and “look into how we could reinvent the browser for a new form factor.”

Now, depending on your raised expectations, you might be either, disappointed or excited. Basically, they did not reinvent anything but just copied main ideas from the Internet Explorer 10 Metro, which focuses on a full screen experience, has same back key overlay and edge swipe.

I guess innovation is stagnating right now as the main ideas currently come only from two companies: Google (Chrome) and Microsoft (Internet Explorer) while everyone else just copies.

As far as release date goes, no details yet,

[Thanks, Hiram]

There is not much else you can do.Tablets allow only a few options with limited screen room, limited RAM and processing power, and the fact that it’s touch screen. It’s either swipe to bring up UI, have small visible buttons to access UI or have some kind of bar. So we can have clutter with a bar being constantly visible. We can have a gesture to bring up the UI, though it may be hard for users. Or you can use buttons like Mozilla. Not too much choices.
P.S they all feed of each other sharing knowledge and ideas, Chrome and IE have taken thing from Firefox multiple times (icons, RSS feed icon, how tabs work, persona’s, themes, fast backspace, ect.) So don’t EVER, EVER say that it’s copying! They all share EQUALLY.

      Sharing mean they
      formally
acknowledge it, since it’s not the case, it’s more correct to say they’re COPYING each other.

So they though “oh Chrome, have so much less features than FF but it’s so popualr. Hey lets strip all features completely! And we will calll it innovation!” All: “Hell Yeah!”

haha not to mention chrome download size,  I always curious, why is iut big but almost no features.

FF got so much less features out of box and Opera’s size still much smaller. what’s the problem? Lazy FF dev?
