  1. Armin says:

Internet Explorer already possesses the most market share according to StatCounter and it hasn’t evolved much in terms of features or other such things. Let it stay on Windows.

  2. RamaSubbu SK says:

Its all Good. But I don’t see a value in running IE on MAC. Does anyone know ? When we already have bunch of browsers for MAC.

    • John says:

I have been advised to get Internet Explorer in order to get the site, VISTA PRINT, to work.
      Seems a step backward, but…

      • KL Bauer says:

That’s my problem, too. I wanted to put up a quick website using the graphics on my business card and signage that I bought through VistaPrint. Their sitebuilding only works on IE. It’s supposed to work on FireFox, but no go. I wonder if it would even work on a Beta version of IE? I’m not hopeful. Now I have to go buy the image from Getty or Corbus in order to build my website. I need my site up NOW. Sigh.

    • Heidi says:

No, it is a step back. Unfortunately there is an extremely large health insurance provider whose website only runs on IE. Big problem since this is where I enter my new employees’ insurance data.

      • Gaurab says:

Unfortunately some of my security brokers only enable their systems on IE. Ironically they have launched an iPhone App!

      • Spambucket says:

I just ran into that problem. It infuriates me that coders are not writing code that works on all browsers. My husband is a computer geek and hates Windows but he still makes sure all the code he writes works on all platforms!!!

    • Lasutas says:

The problem is that some pages like the ones I use in my company will only run the way they should on IE. I would sure love to be far away from Windows and everything made for it. But I stiil have to use it.

    • Bluemurle says:

Must be the one I work for and cannot access the education pages to do my required classes at home!!!!!!!

    • 24 Firecracker says:

I’ve come across some applications that I need for work that do not run on Safari or Firefox on the Mac so this will be helpful!

  3. I agree, Internet Explorer is in no way as good as Safari or Google Chrome. Unfortunately, it is the only web browser that is formatted for my website at work, and all of my work is done online, so I’m pretty useless without it. And on top of that, it is only compatible with IE 7 and 8.

    • RamaSubbu SK says:

How about IE 9 ? Did you try IE 9 at your work website ? Just to know how much backward compatibility is broken.

  4. bandar says:

    thanks

  5. J says:

Unfortunately a lot of people are still using IE. I’m gonna get this purely for development purposes, to check if my sites work with IE

    • D says:

Yes, lots of websites like the US Government and satellite embassies and consulates around the world… Plus websites from other countries… IE is going to be around for a long time…

Unfortunately, IE is needed for seeing “all the features” of certain websites… Yes, a step backward but I am thinking of loading IE on my Mac to see and compare what runs on IE that cannot be seen on Safari…

      Maybe no difference or not…

      D

  6. denise says:

I was thinking of running IE on my mac for some advancement and rechartering paperwork I have to do for my son’s Cub Scout pack. Unfortunately, these “convenient” online applications only work with IE. I may be better off going to the library to input these things…

  7. Shirl says:

well, I just found a great reason for my needing internet explorer. Vancouver Island Health Authority does not support mac, nor mac compatible browsers. It only supports internet explorer and if i want to access the internal site, that is what i need. They are unwilling to finance multi browsers.

  8. S says:

Besides the increase in the possibility of viruses, what are other disadvantages of downloading Internet Explorer on your Mac?

  9. Peter B says:

I am a physician trying to renew my medical license online. The Board of Medical Examiners site specifically notes that IE must be utilized in order to complete the application. What a step backwards !!!

  10. Longhorns97 says:

Will I need to install a virus protector if you install IE? WIll that in turn slow my op system?

  11. Melshae says:

Chrysler’s online training courses require Windows & IE. Grrrr!
