I agree. Except slices can be useful, if you can use them on any element you want like with the Mozilla implementation WebChunks, well if it were still updated that is :P

A sort of related quote that I find funny:
http://www.glazman.org/weblog/dotclear/index.php?post/2008/03/12/WebSlices-in-Firefox-5
<blockquote>The hardest part is done, the rest is really minor. Overall, it took me more or less 3 days - seven hours per day only, hey, France is a country of slackers, that's well known - to implement one of the new key features of IE8... One easy conclusion : long life Firefox !</blockquote>

I agree. What don't they just show the interface of Internet Explorer instead of showing something that are unrelated to the browser.

When will these guys learn how to make ads?

The sound of the ad is a mix of the short clips, most of them with terrible audio and video quality and an 90's look and feel.

Also, the web slices function is quite useless in today's internet.

I love how they don't offer any form of explanation to how IE will slice stuff. People who aren't already using IE8 won't know what it is, and they probably won't feel the need to replace their kitchen knife with a computer program. I give this ad 1/10.
