IE10 For Windows 7 Defaults To DNT As Well
No surprises here.
Despite the uproar from various ad agencies and such, it looks like when it came to rethinking its decision to enable the “Do Not Track” header by default, Microsoft did not flinch for a second.
According to the official Internet Explorer blog post, customers launching IE10 for the first time will be greeted with a welcome page that includes instructions on how to disable the “Do Not Track” signal.
As they said, “We believe that meeting customer expectations by putting people first is the best way to grow online commerce and the Internet economy. Our commitment is to provide Windows customers an experience that is “private by default” in an era when so much user data is collected online. IE10 is the first browser to send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal by default.”

First and Last.
As other browsers are actually compliant with DNT, and their devs DO UNDERSTAND that such standards are compromise which rest on (fragile) trust.
If I understand correctly, the standard changed AFTER IE implemented DNT to specify it should not be on by default. AS a user, I believe IE is the only browser doing it correctly and the standard is at fault, not IE.
1) No standard from beginning specified that it should be user made choice.
2) I also agree about tracking. However as we both do not have ANY power over what happen to data collected by server, it would be NAIVE to assume that after creating MS version of DNT standard, anybody will comply with it.
In other words. DNT is step in right direction. But without changed TO THE LAW, MS version will be nothing more than FICTION.
Don’t care. It’s Internet Exploder and besides, this kind of crappy spyware is what AdBlock was born to kill.
AdBlock block on YOUR side. But on the SERVER side you have NO guarantees.
Why, with DNT have you guarantee? It’s totally worse. None is going to respect it, while a good ad-block with privacy-list can, no matter what, do its job perfectly.
Man, I tell you… DNT is the greatest hoax. Unless the governments around the world make it mandatory ( to be respected ).
There where large groups of advertimement companies who declared support. They would respect DNT.
And NO ad-block DO NOT guarantee your privacy.
You can dream about privacy if you lock your documents in safe in your house, but send copies of them to others, even if you partially trust others.
A good privacy list prevents connections to all third-party crap and even first-party. I know very well what’s going on, I don’t say everything is perfect; but still… No cookies, no connections. Besides, this increases the loading speed.
