By | December 12, 2008

The newest player in the field, Google Chrome is no longer a beta labeled browser. According to Google Chrome blog, they have removed the beta label as their goals for stability and performance have been met. As it says: We are working to add some common browser features such as form autofill and RSS support in the near future. We are also developing an extensions platform along with support for Mac and Linux.

In just 100 days, they have managed to reach more than 10 million active web browser users (thanks to the press).

Google Chrome now offers:

Better stability and performance of plug-ins (particularly video)
Even more speed
Bookmark manager and privacy controls.

I updated yesterday. I don’t see too many differences, other than the bookmark manager, and I don’t see a notable speed increase, but at least nothing is broken, and it’s nice to see Chrome out of beta.

it was so annoying to have yet another ‘always in beta’ google app. it doesnt smell confidence, does it?

btw. i still refuse to use it (despite its immense speed) due to previous privacy concerns (permID, calling home etc)

I like the look and feel. I am still weary of Google as a company and the amount of power through information they store. I want to see what the Mac version will look like, hopefully something good…
How long until PeerGuardian starts blocking Chrome traffic?

No RSS reading, no addons. Ah. Ah.

CHrome, got features from Opera, but chrome have bugs (207) if you read the other article,
Make sure you have good antivirus and spyware software and firewall.

    Loyal Opera user.

  6. DeclinedDoomed says:

You mean the same article that decided that IE was the safest browser (and the least popular)? I wouldn’t take that report seriously.

Also, less bugs != better security.
