Extensions, baby! All the functionality you'll need.

You can't dispute that Chrome has a much faster JS engine, handles normal sites faster, and has a faster (snappier) UI than Firefox, surely?

Gecko hasn't been developing in the right direction, all I'm saying.

Cleaner UI at the expense of functionality, remember.

And it's not "noticeable", it's just how it feels, and that's very good. With that kind of animations and bling, even a slower browser (not as slow as IE though, that one's hopeless) would feel fast. You do understand that, right? In any case, it's faster, but it's not noticeable. It's just the interface.

And "age"? Webkit is one single year younger than Gecko. It's about how well you develop it, not how long.

The difference is that Chrome is noticeably faster and snappier, and has a cleaner UI. Gecko is really showing its age.

Google's ad machine will steamroll over Firefox soon enough. It's strange that they didn't grow more considering all the advertising Google has been doing. Just a matter of time now.

well, people were waiting for an extension - adblock equivalent.

and it is there now.

i foun myself using less and less extensions (mostly because ff incorporated some of the most needed into ff itself - sessions/tab management) but something that i always install is firebug and adblock.

with already great dev tools chrome missed just adblock. it is there.

for most geek types that are not paranoid about browsers, now there are no differences between ff and chrome.

Chrome is growing quite quickly. Google is actively promoting it using their online ad system, you see. With extensions that's one less reason to use Firefox over Chrome. Chrome is already much faster.

I don't think RAM matters much on the kind of PCs that will run Chrome. Unless there's a memory leak there shouldn't be a problem.

It took Firefox -1 year, not the almost +1 year it took Chrome. I say nobody cares because few people care. People use Chrome because of its lightweight or whatever, I don't know, I cannot understand why anybody uses it, but the numbers are clear: very few people use chrome NOW.

Besides, they definitely have to lower their RAM usage to compete with Firefox.

nobody?

I do care, extensions were inevitable for Chrome and it is good, that it took so short.
