Although Chrome 3.0 is still in Beta, Google engineers have already started to work on Chrome 4.0 web browsers and revealed first pre-alpha builds.

As Anthony LaForge explained: We’ve officially bumped Chromium to 4.0.x to reflect our code freeze point for 3.0. There is still a bit of work that needs to be done for 3.0 in terms of stability and fixes, and to that end we will be pulling changes into the 195 branch (what will become the stable release).

Chrome 4.0 does not bring any significant changes yet, when compared to the latest 3.0 Beta snapshot.

The browser wars now seems to be changed: before the features was important but now I think the companies are racing to get the higher version number. (I never saw that much releases of FF and Chrome builds in this little time)

    • With tempos like these, we should see Chrome 6 by the end of this year.

And still no smooth scrolling or RSS support. Sigh…

Maybe Google wants the users using Google Reader or iGoogle (with their accounts) to RSS feeds instead of putting this on Chrome interface. The same occurs with Google Notes I think…

You see, bookmarks are already sync with an account maybe “Reader” will support some sync, but it will be possible only after Opera do that on it’s browser: then Google will be able to copy the sync updated feature. =D KKKKKKKKKKK

Well, Firefox major releases have never been this slow. I honestly don’t know what you’re talking about.

Chrome dev: Guys lets change the way we handle cookies…
Answer: OK we will release new version for that!

I have been using Chrome for a long time now. I only use FF because of some extensions and IE where Chrome fails. Even after reporting many times (I don’t think that if I alone can make any difference here), Chrome version 4 still fails with many sites specially with dynamic combo boxes!!

Hope they have some add-ons, extensions or widgets like FF and opera.
    Looking forward…
