Firefox To Receive New Download Manager

Firefox To Receive New Download Manager

Potentially in Firefox 9.

The latest nightly builds of Firefox web browser now includes a new download manager, which can be accessed via icon or simply by tapping CTRL+J keys.

As seen in the screenshot above, it looks like Mozilla hasn’t just implemented a yet another icon. Instead, users will be able to see download progress and its estimate without accessing the mentioned download manager.

NO. Safari ADOPTED Firefox download manager concept-
      See this: http://limi.net/articles/safari-downloads/

This has been under concept in Mozilla since May 2010 , but is incorporated in Firefox 9 only now. That doesn’t mean Mozilla is copying.

Unfortunately it’s the company that implements it first that is now as the inventor.

Good artists copy, Great artists steal

They should have implemented it before. What they done was to ignore the idea until now, they allegedly thought “we don’t want this, right now, not” and then Apple saw it or came up with the same idea (there are all kinds of ideas in the Internet people’s minds) and choose to implement. Who deserves the praise now? I don’t know anymore it’s just confusing! :)

I agree. There is no one to blame but Mozilla itself. They were slow in implementing the new features in Firefox and are now paying the penalty by taking a bad PR hit.

I do hope the accelerated development brings them good.

Would have preferred the new download manager to appear in its own tab but this is a step forward as well.

It’s really great. Even better when you try it. I’m on UX version 9a1 build too. They clean a lot the UI and the user’s interactions.

What the??? These are full dialogs.
And Firefox and Safari’s previous download manager already looked like this they just wasn’t in balloon form.

Seems good. On all platforms it means less work to control downloads.

I still think that Download Statusbar is better.
