Oh, and there’s a difference between making fun of browsers and stereotypes, and outright insulting someone. The post was aimed at the Opera staff, unlike the other jokes that were aimed at the actual browsers.

The fact that he realized that the post was silly and childish, and removed it, was a good move which makes me reconsider ditching the site completely. Not everyone is able to admit a mistake. Kudos.

I actually liked the post (it was captured in my RSS reader).

I’m a long term Opera user and supporter (8 years now), and still I like the post.

Opera Software SAS urge to remove the post would be (is) far worse behavior than simply articulating reasons why it was not true.

I didn’t find it that offensive, but i didn’t find it funny either. The poor English in the post didn’t help its lack of apparent humour.

And extensions are not really why Firefox is popular. Although arguably its lightweight nature when downloaded has been helpful, most Firefox installations have no extensions, which does not benefit its usability when you turn up to a random/public installation.

Didn’t think it was funny but surely it was not offensive and there was no reason to take it down. And there was some truth to it – extensions helped propel FireFox to where it is today and when Chrome implements them it will be even harder for Opera to grow on the desktop.
