Download Waterfox 9.0: A Better Version Of Firefox 64 Bit

Even though there are “unofficial” 64 bit versions of Firefox floating around the Internet, none of them have gained any significant attention from the general user base.

Thanks to Waterfox, a highly optimized version of Firefox specifically designed for the Windows x86-64 users, this 64 bit flavor might gain some momentum.

Why is it so special?

First of all, Waterfox is fast as it has no troubles outperforming the 32 bit version of Firefox and there are no compatibility or update issues WaterFox will update itself when there is a new release of Firefox and best of all, the add-ons you have installed will continue to function properly as it uses the same profile as Firefox 32 bit.

Since all major plug-ins are already available in the 64 bit flavor, there is pretty much no reason not to try it out, unless you are not Windows user that is.

Download WaterFox 9.0

Download Adobe Flash 11 64 Bit
Download Microsoft Silverlight 5 64 Bit
Download Sun Java 64-Bit

I love my Waterfox 64bit! Been using it for a while now. All my extensions work. If you happen to be a user of Roboform, they don’t offer a 64bit plug-in for Firefox/Waterfox. But LastPass works perfectly as a Roboform replacement. Speed is the name of the game and once you go Waterfox 64bit, you’ll never look back!

idk, firefox still has memory leaks and until its fixed i will try to work my things out with opera

    • Przemysław Lib says:

      Check out FF 10/11/12
They all have nice work done (being done in case of FF12) on memory improvements.
(But test it properly by checking memory usage AFTER some time, not just after opening X tabs)

      • Saex Conroy says:

i dont have the habit of leaving my browser running for a long time – i open it up, i see what i want to see and close it

and thats what i always wanted from my browser – to start up as quick as possle, to load pages as quick as possible, not to hang and freeze or work at a really slow rate

  3. Shane Bundy says:

After Pale Moon, Waterfox really wants to be the quickest off the line for those on 64-bit OSes.

I sense a battle of the optimised Firefox builds is in order. (hint hint, V) ;)

    Cool.

If only we can get an optimized Opera build.

Why don’t they make it open source. They need help

    • Shane Bundy says:

I already asked them why, they said if they made it open source they wouldn’t be able to dish out improvements on all platforms (or something like that). That was about 2 years ago. :p

Opera needs to become more aggressive with build configs, definitely.

      • Anonymous says:

I always thought that it would be embarrassing to them to release the source and have a few people fix a majority of the problems.

What Opera lacks is execution. They have GREAT ideas (Well the community has great ideas)

What the Norway dudes do is introduce a feature once and rarely if ever update it.

I mean when has the download manager been updated? To start/pause downloads flawlessly , to get mirrors links. Like Orbit.

    • Laramie978 says:

Make sure you have  silverlight plugin 5.0 installed. Had the same problem until I downloaded Silverlight.

I’ve been using Waterfox for a few weeks and it is my primary browser now.  Faster than Firefox and just as fast as Chrome after tweaking the about:config parameters.

  8. Laramie978 says:

Definitely fastest browser I’ve used. Love waterfox. So far no issues at all.
